Dilshan can clearly sue the newspaper??
Paper has not stated that Dilshan fixed the matches. Infact it says he did the correct thing. But to create a cloud over the best ODI batsman SL has, is evident. And no, we are not blaming outsiders on this conspiracy. This is dirty factionalism and politics within SL.

Dilshan slur a white conspiracy: Sri Lanka Cricket Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials on Friday lashed out at attempts by the British media to highlight batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan's alleged links with bookies, saying it was a "white conspiracy" intended to "malign" and "defame" the country's cricketers. Dilshan slur a white conspiracy: Sri Lanka Cricket Partha Bhaduri, TNN, Sep 11, 2010 NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials on Friday lashed out at attempts by the British media to highlight batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan's alleged links with bookies, saying it was a "white conspiracy" intended to "malign" and "defame" the country's cricketers. The SLC admitted another player, Dilhara Fernando, had instead been approached by bookies a day before the terrorist attack in Lahore on Sri Lanka's cricketers in March 2009, and the matter had been promptly reported to the ICC. In a vehement denial to the Daily Mail report that Dilshan was under the scanner of the Anti Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the ICC, top sources in the know-how of the Lankan cricket establishment told TOI: "It is a foolish attempt to malign a Sri Lankan cricketer without a shred of evidence. It smacks of a white conspiracy. The way things are going, we won't be surprised if a big Indian cricketer's name crops up next. "These stories are cooked up intentionally just to give the subcontinent's cricketers a bad name. What is worse, it forces us to issue denials to absolutely rubbish charges. These allegations are indicative of a deep racist bias, besides plain ignorance of the truth. It seems it's a free-for-all (sic) now that Pakistan's links have been exposed." The East-West cracks in world cricket's administration have been exposed often enough, and the latest shadow of spot-fixing looming over Pakistani and now Lankan players threatens again to highlight this split. The Daily Mail reported that Dilshan had been named in team manager Brendon Kuruppu's report during the World T20 in England in 2009 for having met bookies at a nightclub. Another report in a Sri Lankan newspaper, the Island, claimed a different player, Dilhara Fernando, had been under investigation by the ACSU for almost two years now. The Daily Mail report even suggested it was Kumar Sangakkara who had expressed reservations about Dilshan, which the Lankan skipper has denied. SLC board officials said Fernando had indeed reported "suspicious approach" of a bookie. A Lanka board source said: "The approach happened a day before the terrorist attack on our players in Pakistan. The ACSU came over to Sri Lanka in May 2009 to interview players about the Lahore attack and Dilhara must be commended for following protocol and letting them know of the bookie's advances. "This was standard practice and there have been no developments since. Also, recent reports of Dilshan being under police investigation in Sri Lanka are also totally untrue. If there is anything substantial against any player, wouldn't the ACSU have got in touch with us?" In an official statement on the Dilshan issue, the board said: "We reiterate that none of Dilshan's teammates complained to Sangakkara about any specific incident. Neither Sangakkara nor the team management reported any specific player or players to the ACSU." Sangakkara, meanwhile, said: "These stories are baseless. No Sri Lankan player to my knowledge is in suspicion of fraternising with these so-called bookies. As far as I know there was no report to SLC or ICC's ACSU. I have never reported against any player specifically. No one including me has voiced suspicion over any of teammate at any time. I have not seen anything of this sort even during the IPL. It is time to restore public confidence in cricket." Given the frequency of such allegations, though, that seems unlikely at the moment. This is also the second time in a month that Dilshan is under the scanner: his match fees were forfeited after it was revealed that he instigated bowler Suraj Randiv to overstep and deny Virender Sehwag a century during the recent tri-series in Dambulla. He has been hounded by allegations of indiscipline and was recently removed from the vice-captaincy following a controversial Zimbabwe sojourn.

White conspiracy? Meh! Charlie Austin is a integral part of this, he may have a white skin, but Sri Lankan in every other aspect. If there is any conspiracy, it is 100% Sri lankan, and politically motivated. All these are media beat ups in SL to earn some bucks. Unsurprisingly, English media are also picking up carcasses left by SL media about betting. Sangakkara has ridiculed all the reports, and the news source is Times of India. COLOMBO: Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara on Friday rubbished media reports that Tillakaratne Dilshan was under the ICC scanner for his alleged links with bookmakers and said none of his team-mates were suspected of "fraternising with shady characters". "All these stories going around about Dilshan are absolutely baseless. No Sri Lankan player to my knowledge is in suspicion of fraternising with these so called bookies by their team-mates nor by team management and Sri Lanka Cricket Board. As far as I know there was no report to SLC or ICC's Anti-corruption Unit," Sangakkara said. According to British tabloid 'Daily Mail', Sri Lankan team manager filed a report to ICC's ACSU after Sangakkara informed him about suspicions among team-mates that Dilshan had been seen with the bookie during the Twenty20 World Cup in England in June last year. Sangakkara denied it and said he had never passed on information of any suspicious activity by any of his team-mates to the management. "I have never reported against any player specifically. All the players are very open in communicating with me and team management. No one including me have voiced our suspicion over any of our team-mates at any time nor reported specifically to the team manager or SLC," he asserted. "If there is any report of any suspicion on any player, then it is better to ask the SLC and the team management about that but as far as I know ,there is no such thing," he told 'Times Now'. Sangakkara also ruled out any Sri Lankan player intentionally mixing up with illegal bookmakers. "Any of the players upto my knowledge have not fraternised with any of these shady characters. The only thing is you never know who is sitting at the chair next to you or who is taking photograph with you at a hotel or somewhere," he said. SLC chief executive Ajith Jayasekara also dismissed reports of Dilshan being under ICC scanner. "We dont go by speculation or what any newspaper wants to say. We don't want to go by such reports. The Anti corruption Unit of the ICC has not reported any such involvement of any player. We cant go by speculation. This has not been brought to our notice by the anti-corruption unit of the ICC. There is no evidence against any Sri Lankan player," Jayasekara said.

Indian name crops up? Are the SL sources out of their minds? Will, even an average Indian cricketer, earning Rs.10,00,000 a year, think about fixing and putting his financial and cricketing future in jeopardy? Indian people don't forgive players easily.

Lawl. Why don't you guys show them the door?
Door also belongs to them. Politics, media and SLC are three facts of a huge "net". It's running autonomus against will of many Lankans.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Of all the idiotic things you have said on this forum, this must top it all. Clue for you, just look at our politicians and their re-elections. Just because Azhar and Jadeja got banned doesn't mean that Indian public doesn't forgive players easily.

Does the media there take it up?
No one knows what has been going on for last two months. Sites are flooded with rumours, and various reports pop up without giving any evidence of what they claim. But talking of an Indian conspiracy is hilarious and I was LMAO since I heard it first. Even President have asked to stop the rumours. If news papers are not going to listen, he might enforce the defamation law where every news article should reveal it's sources if challenged. by a commission empowered to investigate such cases. They have been asking for it for last few months. If that law enforced, we'll see plenty of protests on "media freedom". But this is a tell tale example how SL media use their freedom.

Where did you manage to find that drivel. Here is the original article in Daily Mail Online. Batting maverick Tillakaratne Dilshan was the player named in a Sri Lankan cricket board report to the ICCÃÔ Anti-Corruption Unit last year after he was allegedly spotted with a suspected illegal bookmaker in a London nightclub. The report was filed by the Sri Lankan team manager after captain Kumar Sangakkara passed on suspicions among team-mates that Dilshan had been seen with the bookie during the World Twenty20 tournament in England in June 2009. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/match-fixing-nupur-mehta-2009-t20-world-cup/1/178657.html Now nupur mehta claims to have dated Dilshan during 2009 T20 worldcup.. and Dilshan was accused by English media of suspicious behaviour during T20 worldcup.. Is this the English conspiracy to maintain their No1 test rankings?
