How does an avg Ind cricketer compare with his counterparts of other countries?

Looking at how the teams are playing in CL, an average Indian cricketer doesn't look that much rounded when compared with his counterpart in other two teams we played against. The players of other teams seems to be more focused, thinking, well oiled and in general know what needs to be done. Overall, since Ind is able to find 6-7 highly talented cricketers to represent Ind from the pool, we are competitive as a test playing nation. But at domestic level, many of our cricketers appear to be a little less rounded than cricketers of some of the other countries. What do the guys think? PS in short, a lot needs to be done to improve the standard (quality) of our domestic cricket.

In IPL, we usually see the stars or international cricketers of other countries playing so we expect them to be good wrt are domestic cricketers and on par with many of our international cricketers (those who play international cricket) but in CL, we can actually see the level of domestic cricketers of various countries and compare them to ours in a way

Yes. Who knew about Shaun Marsh before the IPL. Look at the way he played for Punjab. On the other hand, look at the domestic Indian stars. These guys are superior to us technically but some of our players excel only coz they are resilient. Others wither away. Cases in point - Jogi, Gony.... and a few more names.

Earlier, our players use to learn tricks of international cricket when they come on to play for India. Considering that the time to adjust to the learning curve was high and people didn't mind that The above may still be true to an extent but now-a-days with the amount of exposure and coverage of cricket, we expect a certain standard for anyone playing at a certain level like the CL, which is an international competition of domestic teams. If anyone gets found out with a bouncer or does not know how to bowl a yorker effectively (or keeps bowling in the hit me slot) is an idiot. This is something our cricketers should be made aware off (if unaware), so they can put that extra effort in their preparation. Practicing the front foot drive in the net and impressing the coach with a front foot defensive shot is not enough

You've hit the nail on the head, bro. Success can't come to an individual on his terms. I remember reading Irfan lashing out at people expecting him to touch 140 again. A lot of Indian kids let out a moan when they can't meet expectations. Compare this to the Golden generation - Rahul Dravid... he didn't complain when he played IPL 1. He worked on his game and sort his technique out. Ditto with Jacques Kallis. Ditto with Sourav Ganguly post-dropping. Ditto with Sachin Tendulkar after 2 rough IPLs. Ditto with a lot of cricketers. Our youngsters need to understand and implement one thing that our parents keep telling us about - "Purushartha"
