India-Australia pre test discussion for Mohali

Not gonna happen but I'd like to see 3 pacers + spinner + sehwag. We have to consider sehwag as an all-rounder like Watson/Kallis/Mathews. Sehwag plus left arm spin (Ojha/MKartik) would be a good combination imo, and we wouldn't be losing out much by not picking 2 specialist spinners which invariably means sehwag is under-bowled. At the same time, picking 3 seamers means pace bowling workload will be shared, they'd be able to give it their all in all the spells, and also it gives scope for more pace bowlers to develop at test level. I know some of these players are not in the squad, but this is what i'd like .. Sehwag Gambhir Dravid Tendulkar Laxman Raina / Pujara *+ Dhoni Zaheer M Kartik Ishant Sreesanth

Philcric, You seem you to dislike Sehwag a lot and that is why you want him to lose as soon as possible. Are you not aware that Sehwag has a troublesome shoulder? And on a wearing pitch on the 5th day we do need at least 30 overs from each of the two spinner. Is Sehwag capable of that workload? He isn't, and that is why we play with two regular spinners.

I don't want to see Sreesanth anywhere near the Test side. I also do not rate Vijay - huge pretender. I would go with Ishant and Che Pujara in place of these two guys. And Ashwin if Bhajji is injured. I used to rate Amit Mishra but I am disappointed in him. Expected more from the guy. Am a bit concerned that Bhajji may carry an injury into the game and then let himself and all of us down. Happened in the first Test in Sri Lanka and could very well happen here. Unless he is fully fit, I think he should not play.

Two simple things: 1. Our spinners have to perform 2. Zaheer has to get that reverse swing The are the only two clear cut advantages we have over Australia.

And Ashwin if Bhajji is injured. I used to rate Amit Mishra but I am disappointed in him. Expected more from the guy.

Is Ashwin part of the Test squad!?? I dont think he is even in Mohali area, so it will be Mishra :(( if Bhajji cannot play the first Test :((

We HAVE to take 20 wickets to contemplate any notion of win ....I have no doubt our batting will fire..esp if Gambhir gets in form Really hoping Sreesanth fires ....the way he zigzags the ball in air...will give a lot of trouble to OZs...bowlers should have a game plan for Katich and the way he moves around his wicket distracting the bowler

Well, the biggest advantage is with the batting, I guess. The Aussies dont have anybody close to Sehwag/Sachin/Dravid/Laxman - if you take away Ponting.

I hope ZK, IS get a few top order wickets. Its absolutely crucial that ZK and IS fire on target. I dont have much hope in HS (or Mishra) + Ojha to strike if ZK and IS are rendered ineffective.
