i am a confirmed OCS but in our defense, we dont bring Sachin into any article which praises Ponting or Kallis, its usually the other way around, i.e., any cricketer in good form is said to be as good or better as Sachin. Is it not our duty to then disporove this :((

Not Really, by the definition given. Ganguly Fan? -Yes. Not just Ganguly every player who has downed the Indian Jersey and Made India proud. Perhaps me being a 'Bengali' tickled you to get me under that category. TBH - the Authour has lack of Knowledge about 'Dadaist'. The greatest of the 'Dadaist' lies among the Southies. Bengalis are no where close to that Lunacy. Its the 'Superstar Ajith Fans' who claim Dada and Ajith looks similar and both are the best in their own field and can do no wrong. And EDIT : I would like to add, even the greatest of the 'Dadaist" among the Bengalis wont call Ganguly greater than GOD. But for Southies, Ganguly is the GOD. :cantstop:

During 2001-2005 period, I came across more Ganguly fans in Chennai than Sachin fans. I have to admit that I myself started liking Ganguly more and more in this period and especially when Chappel became coach and started sidelining Ganguly. So yes, your observation that more southies like Ganguly is true. Although I dont agree that many like Ajith, I found a surprising pattern wherein most Ganguly fans also turned out to be Ajith fans.. Unless you lived in Chennai, you wouldnt know this. So I'm pretty sure that you have coe southie connection, chennai to be more specific. Dont you?

Well i have never been out of Kolkata since my birth. Whatever knowledge about Ganguly-Ajith Fans- Southies i have gathered was from one of my friend who lived most of his life in Chennai, and from the various Ganguly groups over various social Networking Sites. According to him since Ajith Kumar in some of his interviews said his favourite cricketer is Sourav Ganguly, all his fans took it by heart and started Idolising him. He also said Vijay said Sachin Tendulkar is his favourite Cricketer. So fans of Vijay Dont like Sourav and Ajith Fans dont like Sachin. When i heard it i felt, does people of Chennai Judge Cricket and Cricketers by their Superstars?:omg: Anyways growing up, i was not much fond of Ganguly, and always looked up to him as a Talented but a Lazy cricketer. I always wanted to bat like Rahul and Sehwag and looked upto them as my Batting Idol untill 2006 when he succumbed and took all his decisions and judgements to the likings of Mr. Greg the chappal. Ever since the come back of Ganguly in 2006 i started admiring him. Whatta Fighter :isalute: But as a batsman Rahul always > Ganguly. But Ganguly has his own place in Indian cricket which he earned with his Unque Comeback and transformation of Indian cricket to what it is now. But one batsman is above all. Second, we come to the Dadaist. Invariably from Bengal, or a part of the worldwide Bengali diaspora, for him life and cricket revolves around Maharaj, his beloved Dada - Sourav Ganguly. It's like saying bhajji and yuvraj singh's fan base is only from punjab and supportive punjabi expats. This is Not somthing new. :D When i was new to ICF some year back "Yoda" who generally is a very sensible Poster equalised the Fact since am from Kolkata, am supporting in Favour of Ganguly. Once even' Dhon_Zone" made a similar remark.:cantstop: It is important to treat people and Posts on their merit, not on the Location they come from.

Where did you guys get the idea about Southies loving Ganguly?!! See, the fact is Southies take a lot of time to hate anybody - unless it is one of their own. For example you would find Southies having a neutral opinion about somebody like a Shikar Dhawan while not having too many nice words about somebody like L. Balaji or Dinesh Karthik. That is how it is. Ganguly was not actively hated - thats about it. And the same can be said for many others.
