The three MP medium pacers Sudhindra, Amit Sharma and Anand Rajan, are all 6 ft+, well built and look to be good bowlers. Sudhindra is 125 kmph, Amit Sharma around the 128 kmph mark, but Anand looked the most impressive of the three. Nice smooth action, uses a lot of shoulder in his delviery stride and was bowling 133-134 kmph and getting the ball to lift. This lad can move the ball either ways and looks to have a good future if nurtured properly. With some technical work on his action, I am sure he can add 4-5 kmph of pace to his bowling and with his ability to get the ball to move or jump off the track, he could prove to be a real darkhorse. Bowled a short yet highly impressive spell of 3 overs today. I will definitely follow him tomorrow to see how he does. I hope selectors are watching this lad bowl. Looks better than a few other trundlers who get picked for Challenger Trophy teams or even India A sides. For Karnataka, the left armer Arvind was the most impressive. Last season he was not able to hit even 125 kmph but hit 132-133 a couple of times today and was on an average 128-129 kmph. I wanted to know about anand since his debut in ranji..he took a lot of wickets in his first year..but never saw him bowling and didnt get to know much about him. Tell more about him. What kind of action he has and his style of bowling?

Good stuff. Would be good if you could record some of the game, and post it up, if you can... It is fascinating to hear that Aravind is bowling at 128kph. I remember watching [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93hEMj6JA3I]this[/ame] and then putting him down as a 120kph trundler, but it is very promising that you can have such a good wicket taker, as he has been, bowling at good pace. Anand Rajan may be one to keep an eye on too!

ROHTAK: Seldom has patience figured among the qualities of most Haryana batsmen. But centurions Nitin Saini and Sunny Singh chose the right stage to display fortitude and their sense of purpose that left Tamil Nadu baffled on the first day of the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal here on Friday. Haryana may have lost the toss but gained much more, including the psychological edge over the visiting team after reaching 293 for two, with Saini still around with his career-best 137. If Tamil Nadu skipper Dinesh Karthik, who won the toss, expected the home team to capitulate in seamer-friendly conditions, he was in for a rude shock. Saini and Sunny came together with just 19 on the board and put together a second-wicket stand of 241 — the best for the team this season. Dropped catches All credit to Sunny and Saini for the way they frustrated Tamil Nadu's designs. Saini, dropped on 11 by Karthik and again on 28 by S. Badrinath in the slips, used the opportunity to improve on his previous best of 125 against Jharkhand. He took his time to settle down, then drove and pulled with ease. With the Tamil Nadu bowlers getting increasingly frustrated, he added to their woes by not missing a single opportunity to send the ball across or over the ropes. The track had a tinge of grass which was just adequate to help the seamers in the morning and the strapping pacer took the responsibility of shouldering the host attack. Pankaj was up early with a mission in mind. Bowling against 39-time Ranji champions Mumbai, Pankaj made the transition from being Plate division’s highest wicket-taker to the overall leader this season. His six-wicket haul, evenly spread over four spells and 22.1 overs, also lifted Rajasthan’s aspirations, as they finished on 17/0 after packing off the defending champions for 252 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. While his game is built on the discipline of hitting grass patches around the good length spot, Pankaj stood out with his ability to mix his outswingers with the odd one coming in. He generated ample pace and movement off the deck. Pankaj quickly found the right line and enjoyed the movement off the pitch. After trapping Mumbai opener Omkar Gurav in front, the Rajasthan bowler changed his end to get more advantage. Sahil Kukreja failed to read the swing and found his stumps in disarray. Jaffer fails Sumit Mathur's support from the other end proved crucial. Mathur produced a gem of a delivery to knock off Wasim Jaffer's off-stump even before the prolific run-getter could open his account. Madhya Pradesh, then 89 for two, would have happily taken that score but Bundela’s dismissal resulted in an unmitigated disaster for the home side. Two balls after resumption, Madhya Pradesh lost Abbas Ali who had backed up too far before he was sent back by Saxena. Having played his part in Abbas’ exit, Saxena pushed his team into more trouble by playing an ill-advised pull off Arvind. In no position to play the shot, the right-hander failed to clear Stuart Binny at mid-on. Returning for his third spell, Vinay cleaned up Murtaza Ali, this time with a delivery that shaped in. In just about six overs and 12 runs, Madhya Pradesh lost four wickets to decisively handover the advantage. Harpreet Singh, who had slammed a ton against Andhra in their semifinal, couldn’t offer more than a token resistance before he fell to part-time leg-spiner Amit Verma, going for an ambitious lofted drive. Having gone wicketless in his first five spells, Mithun came back to trap Anand Rajan in front to round off an excellent second session for Karnataka. While they conceded 113 runs in exchange of three wickets in the period till lunch, the visitors removed five batsmen while giving away only 75 runs in the next session.
