If Butt has proof then ECB will be in trouble, if not ECB could stop the tour and other countries excepts zimboks may not want to play with Pakistan.

You have to be naive to think that 1 is possible. Right now, Giles clarke is hitting his head on a wall to be so good to pak this summer. All ICC said were facts. It said that the Sun had information on how certain overs will turn out, before the game started and how it most certainly turned out to be true. So they will investigate whether the game was fixed. ICC did not say that Pak players were guilty of fixing. But Butt said that English players are guilty. Good things will certainly come out of this, but nothing good for Pak cricket. 1. Giles clarke lost a few more of his friends for being so helpful to pak. The sooner he goes, the sooner ECB can cozy up to BCCI which is something a lot of the counties want. 2. ICC has legitimate reason to ban PCB since now, not only the players but the management is a disgrace too. 3. More countries will be worried to play against Pak, not because of worries of playing against cheats, but because of worries of being accused of fixing like the English players are now.

Monday's fourth one-day game between England and Pakistan is set to go ahead despite more twists in the spot-fixing saga that has overshadowed the series. England were furious over reports that Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt told Indian TV that team members were paid to lose the third game. However, Butt has told BBC Radio 5 live: "I definitely did not say this." The International Cricket Council is looking into spot-fixing claims against Pakistan from Friday's third ODI. I agree. ICC cannot ban Pakistan. But individually teams will have serious doubts about playing with Pak. It could end up being a pseudo ban. Pak. needs to act NOW.

Really? Do you actually think that Pak will escape unhurt after PCB chief hurled allegation at the host country? Now thats day dreaming. The next time some other country play Pak and Pakmplayers get caught in some form of cheating, the other team will be blmed again. BTW, SA and NZ teams are already having reservation. As of now people are keeping quiet as ICC is still investigating. But all hell is going to break soon

An excellent contribution Asim. I am glad to see our Pakistani brethren on this board, especially those as relaxed, open minded and willing to engage in intelligent debate as yourself. :two_thumbs_up: I share your optimism that good sense will prevail among all concerned. Pakistan cricket needs an administrative overhaul, the subcontinent as a whole needs to legally regulate betting and the ICC needs to impose stringent punishment upon cheats, whatever their nationality - this is, as Ian Chappell has already said, "cricket's global warming challenge". Personally, I must say that I find the abbreviation "Paki" derogatory - I can certainly remember as a youngster in the British midlands being abused by white racists using that epithet. However, if Pakistani people themselves have no objection to the abbreviation, then I guess it is OK although I would personally never use it. I can't also remember hearing it when I was in India (though that was a few years ago) - I suspect most of the people who use it are people of Indian origin in Britain who have internalised it from British racists. But I may be wrong......
