Was the only Indian who scored 2 tons on that disastrous 02 tour to NZ. Can't forget the brutal pwning of Murali Mendis and company. Ask Murali and Mendis which batsmen gives them nightmares in the Indian team. LOL. But how does that remove the fact that he is the worst performer in 2nd innings of Test matches, is a bonafied choker in the 4th innings of Test matches and the main point still remains - he flopped miserably like a clown in the recent Test series against Australia. Don't ignore those points. Address them. Oh, add to that averages 42 odd outside Asia like the epic flat track bully that he is known to be.

SRT lost his head when Mongia got a brain fart in Chennai. Please read criteria # 9 - Shepherding of the tail index - This is no small measure. That is why it is called test cricket. Having the presence of mind and awareness of a bowlers spells, taking single of last ball , taking the risk of foregoing a run to avoid the tailender getting the strike etc. - Very very valuable skills as a batter and account for the difference between a close win or a loss. SRT had that opportunity in Chennai. Regarding 99 series in Aus. Please don't over rate SRT's performance. Saeed Anwar scored more runs in the series than SRT against the same team with Mcgrath. 282 vs 278. And unlike India who played on Sydney and Adelaide. Pak got to play at Perth and Brisbane.

We declared both the innings scoring 900 + runs . That is how flat the SYdney pitch was. We tried bowling out Aussies in a days play - 90 odd overs,when we ideally one more session. Kaun rok raha hai teko. 4th innings /5th day pitches in India for the last 10-12 years have ranged from being extremely ****all to extremly docile. ON an average, I think they are comparable to RSA and Aus. Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai are pitches where innings get rapped up sometimes in 2 sessions. Ahmedabad, Kanpur , Nagpur can be dead docile even on the 5th day. It balances out on an avg compared to Aus/RSA .
