That's a good footage but obviously he isn't playing in a game. There is no WK around, the stands are empty and the camera appears to be too close to the wkt (I can't imagine they had those super zoom in those days)

So according to you "Young Srujan" is a better player than Jack Hobbs cause Jack Hobbs' style of play doesn't impress you after 100 years. :hysterical:

I don't understand why does he have to play in text book style? On top of that we don't even know what's happening there. But if you want to see that as the example you are looking for then go ahead and be my guest :P

Raja > Hammond sums it all up' date=' doesn't it? As I can't tell you how well Hammond negotiated the bouncers, how quick were the bowlers he faced and how good were the bowlers then. In fact, I have been led to believe by Tendulkar fanboys that bowling and fielding was crap in that era so anyone could average high. Hence Raja who avgs 32 in tests, would probably have been better than Hammond who avgs 58 as Raja would probably have avg 64 in Hammond's era. And I know what bowlers Raja faced and how he dealth with it so that makes it even better :P[/quote'] When someone says that mordern batsmen are better than the ones in Bradman's time he doesn't mean that Each individual batsmen in modern time is better than each individual batsmen in Bradman's era. There was a narrow-minded,male chauvinist dhobi even in Ram Rajya

The rules that shows that someone averaging 50 today is as good as someone averaging 100 in the past should be universally applicable. If not then those rules don't mean much :winky: Based on those rules, it is not unfair to deduce that anyone averaging 30 in the modern era would be better than Hammond, who averaged 58. If this statement isn't true than Sachin (avg 55) > Bradman (avg 100) isn't true as well.

And please do let us know who the Ram Rajya dhobi is as well?

I just posted a video without passing any verdict, its just your interpretation what it meant 'according to me'. To you and "Rett" - My point is - these small video clips, few statistical numbers, news articles etc. are never going to be enough to do any sensible ranking across such long period of time. Its wise not to compare batting/bowling/cricketing greats across eras.

^ Youre right about list 2 being a superior set. But you can only play who you play, thats not Bradmans fault. And its still pretty phenomenal to average 100, still hugely ahead of any of his contemporaries (dominance over peers theory :D) ...

The corollory to this which you have been cleverly dogging for long ... is that top bowlers from 30s were just as good ( if not better ) than the modern day top bowlers ... So can you for once give a straight answer on which set of bowlers you would prefer from the following 2 lists? ( You can only pick one list ) ... TIA
Don't think you understand what words like corollary and analogy mean. The lists that you've posted have nothing to do with my point...try to think about it without being asinine as usual and maybe you will understand. Otherwise, at least spare me the agony of quoting my posts randomly and inserting some random 'lists', the points regarding which have already been addressed earlier.

Thats not even the footage I was talking about. There was an even more hilarious footage which I cant find. Its were he plays a forward defensive, known as the hobbs lunge at our club:hysterical: Seriously to even compare him to modern day players is bonkers and absurd! It was a totally different game really played in totally different way
