gaurav92 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Ha ha ha ha:hysterical: This is just hysterical...When Agarkar was Indian team..fans like you used mock him saying he cannot bowl at death...he takes wickets but goes for a lot of runs on those days when T20 wasn't invented and now when he is not in the team..people asking of his inclusion.... This is a human nature actually....we always forget the past and try to imagine something which is not possible.....and Agarkar bowling well at death is not possible....try something new instead of going back when back is not so good at all.... actually Agarkar was not a good death bowler at all....a few good balls here and there that is it...nothing special...though he used to take wickets but that was also limited to his initial years, after that he became as ordinary as anyone For a start, i wasn't there in this Forum, when Aggy used to play for India :--D.I was never a fan of Aggy and i still stick to that. But seeing our other bowlers being taken to the cleaners, i don't think Aggy could do any worse. Coming to the second part, his economy is under 5, it speaks a lot about his ability to bowl in death overs.he was the only one whom i saw bowling yorkers regularly and pegging stumps back.I don't think he will be given a go but in my opinion he deserves a look in.We can just discuss here, but the real job is with the selectors. To me he looks a decent ODI bowler, and he must be there for NZ series. Even Nehra was bowling crap for most part of the Aussie summer in 03/04.Still he was in the side till 05, after which he got the injury and now he has come back well.To me Agarkar is experienced candidate and i will not be surprised if he makes a comeback(if given a chance by the selectors).
gaurav92 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Don't forget Aggy wields a mean willow too. He had the record for the fastest fifty for an India batsman, and a century in Lords.:icflove: That man is the only chance we have for our second worldcup. Remember paaji standing on the Lord's balcony lofting the cup high. Now imagine Agarkar bhai in Wankhede stadium doing the same. Say it loud, say it proud. Agarkar bhai for the third seamer position for India. LOL.But i think he should be given a chance. If he doesn't perform well, the job of selecting the squad becomes easier, so why not give it a go ?
ZodiaC Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 LOL.But i think he should be given a chance. If he doesn't perform well' date=' the job of selecting the squad becomes easier, so why not give it a go ?[/quote'] Zimbabwe series, the upcoming NZ series etc are good to test Irfan etc. Or even aggy :--D Got ot get our wcup combo right soon enough :nervous:
IKnowU Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Bring the legend baackkkkkkk :protest: Sajid Mahmood :hysterical:
gaurav92 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Sajid Mahmood :hysterical: He was going berserk there in that game.Scored 15-20 in double quick time.It was a crucial wicket, otherwise mahmood would have taken the game away from us with his "calculated slogging" :D Zimbabwe series, the upcoming NZ series etc are good to test Irfan etc. Or even aggy :--D Got ot get our wcup combo right soon enough :nervous: Zim series ? We just have NZ Series before the Saf tour.
ZodiaC Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 He was going berserk there in that game.Scored 15-20 in double quick time.It was a crucial wicket' date=' otherwise mahmood would have taken the game away from us with his "calculated slogging" :D[/quote'] :hehe: Zim series ? We just have NZ Series before the Saf tour. I mean we should give em a chance in meaningless series like that. I know we have NZ b4 SA series, so wot :dontknow:
gaurav92 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Oh Yes certainly.But i doubt if he will be selected.poor guy :((
RamP Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 To be fair to the selectors, Vinay did really well in the previous FC season so you cannot just keep ignoring him. At least, the domestic chart-toppers must be seen to be rewarded for their efforts. But they obviously chose the wrong series to play him. To play Vinay Kumar on flat Indian pitches where there is little to no assistance to the pacers like having a clearance sale in your store in America – The batsmen will be all over him. But if there’s something in the pitch for the pacers, Vinay is capable of being reasonably effective. But it is baffling that Irfan is being continuously ignored (don’t know whats the status of his fitness). He couldn’t possibly do any worser than what our pacers are currently doing and he adds depth to the batting as well. I saw him at the NCA last week when I went to watch the test match. He was doing a brisk walk around the B ground. The fact that he wasnt jogging probably indicates he is not fit. But I dont know. Typically players are sent to NCA to get back to full fitness and sort out their technique. Also, discarded players dont goto NCA. If BCCI sends someone to NCA, it means they want to get him back in his full fitness and top of his game. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Irfan will be back soon. Whether he will be back soon enough for the WC is anyone's guess
cricfan4ever Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I always wonder what happened to irfan pathan. He was such a talent back in the days when he first arrived. But I guess he was then wasted by greg chappel who tried to turn him into batting all rounder which really ruined his bowling. How is he doing now a days?
retterimp Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 wow, our bench strength must totally suck given we even have to think about recalling agarkar. that being said, agarkar >>> dina, vinayK, any other trundler that we've tried out there and seriously, vinay kumar, i mean WTFFF.. atleast when munaf, irfan, rpsingh first came onto the scene they looked good and you had hopes from them. but from vinay kumar?? its all downhill from here, no hope at all from him.
RamP Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 i dont understand why everyone is so hyped about not having a bowler. for the WC we have already got 3 fast bowlers who are definitely going to play i.e Zak, Nehra and Praveen. why do we need more seamers? I think India should play just 2 seamers and 2 spinners in all its games with the remaining 10 overs from raina, yuvi and sehwag. we dont want to play more than 2 seamers thereby reducing the chance of seamers taken to the cleaners. limit the damage by playing just 2 seamers
The Outsider Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 But he can't do worse than the current lot. You're obviously not versed with the power and fury of Agarkar.
gult Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Agarkar is CRAP. Instead of trying to recycle old crap like the Pakistanis do, we need to persist with young players even if they don't perform well for the first few matches. Good bowlers are rare things these days.
veer Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Is Irfan even playing these days? I dont see him playing in domestic games.. Aggy is too old now..
ViruRulez Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Is Irfan even playing these days? I dont see him playing in domestic games.. Aggy is too old now.. Exactly. What is he doing and why not playing domestic cricket. Just checked the domestic scorecards right now and Yusuf's last T20 match was today where he again bashed the domestic trundlers it seems for 89 off 42 balls. Similarly his last domestic one day match was a few days ago on October 9. Irfan plays in the same Baroda team with Yusuf and why can he not play in the games too. If he is willingly not playing domestic cricket then I dont think he deserves to be in intl. team (playing county cricket would have made sense too but he is not doing that too). And if he is injured the whole year then I really doubt his fitness and needs to work a lot before getting a place in the Indian team. He could have got the no.7 spot by virtue of talent but with this attitude/fitness he does not deserve to be in the team. He has to prove himself both in performance and fitness in a domestic or country season at least to make it back to the team.
maniac Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Agarkar is underrated....Agarkar was the fastest to 50 wickets at one point Agarkar had the fastest 50 by an Indian in ODI's at one point Agarkar has a test 100 at Lords Agarkar won us a test match in Australia in their own backyard Agarkar played some cameos with the bat especially when he won a tournament for us in Sharjah against I Have seen Agarkar regularly pwning Tailenders with the old ball Agarkar is one of the better talents than many other players we had in the recent past and still he gets mocked by people on this board...I know he was ordinary by comparing him with fast bowlers of other countries during his time but he is way better than underacheivers than Irfan and Ishanth BTW AGARKAR>Zaheer in ODI's the Srilankans I think
Dravid Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 am a big fan of aggy, but its over now.. he didnt get an fair deal, but he is not good enuff now.. he has lost pace now also but irfan def. needs to be given a shot...
yoda Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 am a big fan of aggy, but its over now.. he didnt get an fair deal, but he is not good enuff now.. he has lost pace now also but irfan def. needs to be given a shot... :winky:
ViruRulez Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 am a big fan of aggy' date=but its over now.. he didnt get an fair deal, but he is not good enuff now.. he has lost pace now also but irfan def. needs to be given a shot... agree completely with that.. he should have been given more chances.. but on a second thought we had loads of emerging and established quality fast bowlers at that time.. Nehra, Irfan, Zak etc. were emerging while Srinath etc. were in their prime.. there was just too much competition then and our fast bowling was not that bad .. Agarkar was becoming too costly and lost his wicket taking ability and then he was dropped .. it was fine to drop him then as we had lot of good pacers emerging to take his position and he was losing his wicket taking skills .. but he should have been tried back in the team when later our bowling became crap and Irfan, Nehra, RP Singh etc. gradually became very bad .. he should have been given another chance at least .. he might not have been that bad ... I would still not mind giving him another chance but he needs to work on his pace and swing a bit
