Cricketics Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Here is a guy called Vinay Kumar who has looked very ordinary and player like Irfan Pathan who can bat and can bowl well is sitting out. Agarkar too has been one of our best odi bowlers and he is too not being givefn another chance. With world cup around, one of these 2 really need to be forced in to the squad. We definately need either of the two for this world cup. p.s - don't want any crap post or sarcastic post related to agarkar.

Ram Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 To be fair to the selectors, Vinay did really well in the previous FC season so you cannot just keep ignoring him. At least, the domestic chart-toppers must be seen to be rewarded for their efforts. But they obviously chose the wrong series to play him. To play Vinay Kumar on flat Indian pitches where there is little to no assistance to the pacers like having a clearance sale in your store in America – The batsmen will be all over him. But if there’s something in the pitch for the pacers, Vinay is capable of being reasonably effective. But it is baffling that Irfan is being continuously ignored (don’t know whats the status of his fitness). He couldn’t possibly do any worser than what our pacers are currently doing and he adds depth to the batting as well.

Too bad that they saved the PP till the last and took the adv of dibbly dobbles from the Kumars. Why single out VK alone?

Aussies got acceleration in their innings. Throughout the innings he went well over 5 runs where others were going Below. Plus his death bowling was like of a pedestrian. He could never keep the batsmen in check, where both Nehra and PK did in the early part of their bowling. Though they went for Lot of runs in the later part.

yoda Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Agarkar - NO Irfan - May be as a pure bat, not as a bowler or an all-rounder. We really can't afford to fall back with these guys bowling cr@p. If Vinay kumar is cr@p, dump him, but doesn't mean we include guys who have proven to be useless. Yes Agarkar can get you wickets, but he will bowl enough gimmes to sway the match anytime. Ifran has simply forgotten how to bowl.

rkt.india Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Irfan is not fit since ages...so how can he be selected...he did not play in challenger means he was unfit and he is unfit since IPL...so he has not played matches to show his credentials...otherwise he is a welcome selection, but as an allrounder...he cant be picked a specialist bowler picking VInay kumar is just comical....he can be effective only in helpful conditions where he can get his outswing going and that too in initial overs after that he is a cannon fodder on any wicket, same is with Praveen Kumar though he is a bit better than Vinay in variations
