The rich and famous in the west avoid doing time by hiring better lawyers than the state. Neighbors complained and cops came to his house and went. LOL. So lets not embarass ourselves. Not really. That's the only one you know of. Celebs routinely get off with much much lighter punishment or no punishment simply because they can afford the best legal defense that money can buy. One famous actor recently got away with Murder. All the lawyers have to do is get one person in a Jury to have reasonable doubt. No bribes yes, but money still talks. Another example, celebs get caught with something as small as DUI and get off very easily, sometimes even missing court dates. If a common man gets caught with DUI and does that, he'll probably end up in Gitmo. :giggle: I am obviously not saying India doesn't have issues. Of course we do. But it is pretty naive to think the west doesn't have it's own problems and there is no need for us to put ourselves down by comparing ourselves to the west for everything.

After all this was a heinous crime, not a petty theft.

And you have Mike Tyson who got out after rape conviction in just 3 years. Happens in India too yoda...so many cases have been reported .

But if a guy, who has been let off on a rape charge, makes a confession publicly I would say that the right thing is to report it to the authorities. Of course the complaint would probably have been futile and the complainant would only end up making enemies.

The amount of unreported/reported rape that happens in India with guilty not being charged is staggering , and if you think otherwise or if it happens in the west in the same magnitude , you are deluding yourself.
