Sreeshant versus Ishant

I actually belive we will have an awesome attack in SA. The 3 of them ZK, Ishant and Sree will be handful for anyone. Zk is of course top class. Ishant has improved it seems and was very good in last test. And sree is a real talent, real wicket taker whose seam and movement will be effective. I am optimistic our pace attack will be potent in SA and England. And would say these 3 in tandemn is the best pace attack we have ever taken for a tour. Bench strenght is average but if these three stay fit, then saffies better be careful about producing pacers tracks

Difficult to say. Till a few months back I would have gone for Sreesanth. But Ishant seems to be really getting back into some good rhythm over the last few months. I was pretty impressed with some of his sporadically good spells in Sri Lanka' date=' which were absolutely dreadful wickets for fast bowlers. To his credit, Sreesanth has also bowled some pretty impressive spells on these dead tracks. The only time I actually saw Ishant being carted around in a test match was during the 1st test at Mohali against the Aussies, where he bowled a gazillion no-balls and went for something like 80 runs off 15 overs. Even there, it was his spell on day that really put us in a match-winning situation. But, the no. of times Sreesanth has been all over the shop in test cricket? Plenty.

I recall ishant being carted around by Dilshan and company just a few months ago. The break did do him good. It looks like he's getting that big indipper back and that just means good for us. Prasad was right when he said Ishant is actually the most hard working bowler. :hatsoff: Can't wait to see Sree + ZAK + Ishant in SAF :woot:

Not really, it was their inept batting on day 1. If it wasnt Ishant, someone else would have taken those wickets. But they really screwed it up badly by losing 7 wickets in two sessions on day 1, especially after winning the toss and batting first.

no, it will be considered as a hattrick,it is not necessary to pick all 3 wickets in the same match to claim a hattrick

No it should be in same match, if its between two innings thats fine. but I think it has to be in same match.

Don't know where it 'says so' since it's not an actual law, which can be looked up in the ICC laws. They both just SUCK!! Wudn't even make it to Australian or RSA "C" grade teams.. Both are lucky that we dont have a single 135+ bowler in India... Though I will take Ishant if I have to choose one kaana among lotsa andhaas.. Atleast the guy doesnt cry like a girl when slapped and act like one mid-pitch...

Apparently, a bowler not even good enough to make Australia’s ‘C’ team is good enough to terrorize their premier batsmen both in Australia and in India in consecutive series in 2008. The Aussie batsmen must suck so badly, they probably wouldn’t even make the Indian ‘Z’ team. :winky: So lets get this straight, Sreesanth is a cry-baby because he..err..hmm.. cried..! After all, how can humans show emotions right? Plus, Ishant is a beanpole because he cannot bench-press 10 tons. Sure, their bowling may have played a significant role in making India the top rated team in the world for the last 12 months, but eh, facts be damned! All that matters is perception …. And muscle of course!

The most heart-warming thing was, as Dhoni said in the post match presentation, Ishant’s pace is definitely up 5-7 kph from his lows earlier this year and back to where it was, during his prime in 2008. Ishant never was or will be a 90 mph bowler, but some sporadic readings from the Aussie speed-guns created a huge wave expectation around him. But he’s now operating mostly in the 135-140 bracket. Couple that with his bounce and natural inward movement, he’s going to get a lot of batsmen bowled/lbw.

Even in the T20 series and ODIs he was averaging around 145 and touching 150s occasionaly. Wait till we reach SA and check the speed guns then. Am sure he will be over 140 all the time if he bowls with the same rythm he is bowling now
