Was not old enough to notice the captaincy of Taylor or Waugh. Shane warne could have become one of the greatest captains after that Ganguly and MSD.

Till date haven't seen anyone as gutsy as Hansie Cronje. Also very sporting captain when on field. Would never forget that moment when Laxman or someone was run out after colliding with a Saf fielderduring titan cup 1996. He was given out and had to go, and Hansie Cronje calls Laxman back to bat P.S - NOT TALKING ABOUT THAT collision video from same tournament which is on youtube which has ganguly in it.

Lloyd and Border are really great skippers in every sense of it that made a difference to the game like none others with their leadership over all others in the last 40 years or so. J.M.Brearley was an astute leader that got great results barely worthy of holding a place in the Test team based on his batting skills. Then there are a whole bunch of them truth be told that are decent enough who are good thinkers of the game and are worthy. In the recent past - Ranatunga, Taylor, Cronje, Fleming, Ponting are all good who command respect from the teammates and go to war with them. Need to see where Dhoni will end up 4 years from now when his captaincy chapter will finally be written.

IIRC, Ganguly was the batsmen on that occasion too.

waugh although a good captain, had bowlers like warne, Mcgrath, gillespie, fleming and lee at his disposal in helpful home conditions. Dhoni doesnt get ruffled up whatever the situation and gets the results.

even though i didnt like dada at later stages of his career! but he changed the way indians play cricket! the agressivness the real gundagardi! he brought to our team has changed the indian team forever!
