Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 UDRS should be mandatory in every test, just look at todays poor decisions. I guess this is why BCCI dont want it if all the decisions go their way.
21cent Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 BCCI-1 RSA-1 Series leveled. Lets see what BCCI does for the decider.
Homerus_Unus Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I guess this is why BCCI dont want it if all the decisions go their way. They can just as well go the other way too, Einstein.
Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 They can just as well go the other way too' date=' Einstein.[/quote'] When Aus were ruling you were all bawling about how many umpiring decisions go their way, now you are number 1 it appears you are getting the same benefits, enjoy them!
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 BCCI-1 RSA-1 Series leveled. Lets see what BCCI does for the decider. Excellent. in that case, let's make one more adjustment 2007/08 BG trophy: Australia 1-2 India. perfect. i'm sure you have no problem accepting this

Is the bawling about umpiring decisions under discussion here, doofus? Grow up and learn to argue without invoking fallacies. It's a MATHEMATICAL FACT that the probability of poor decisions going either way in a non-referral system is a 100%. Now go peddle your agenda elsewhere.
21cent Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Excellent. in that case, let's make one more adjustment 2007/08 BG trophy: Australia 1-2 India. perfect. i'm sure you have no problem accepting this I cant agree with that. There is a huge difference. In BG trophy UDRS was not available as it wasn't approved by ICC yet. In this series UDRS was available, the SA board wanted it. But BCCI refused it.
Serani Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Do both boards have to agree to UDRS or just the home team? Surely if the home team want it and are willing to pay it should be implemented?
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I cant agree with that. There is a huge difference. In BG trophy UDRS was not available as it wasn't approved by ICC yet. In this series UDRS was available, the SA board wanted it. But BCCI refused it. but we are dealing with hypothetical bullshit here, right? if this, than that...etc. so if de villiers was given not out, he would have gone on to score an unbeaten hundred and lead SA to victory? what a joke. who is to say he wouldnt have gotten out the next ball. indian bowlers hadn't given up a boundary for more than an hour. and india themselves had the prince decision go against them. u ppl are just deluding yourselves. in any case, BCCI has been refusing UDRS use since the sri lanka tour of 2008, and for good reasons. i personally, would rather have UDRS.. but if believing in ridiculous conspiracy theories helps u sleep better at night and prevents you from thinking about killing yourself whenever india win a game, then carry on saying whatever you want...
fineleg Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 The ICC must standardize the use of UDRS in all International matches. In this Test a couple of decisions went in India's favor, so easily the reverse can happen too. Just get technology into the matches ASAP. Anyway, for WC2011, UDRS will be used, and India is not prepared for that. So, perhaps BCCI should ok the system for the Ind-SA ODI series at least so MSD gets some practice.
Zap_Brannigan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Isnt the host responsible for UDRS? Just why the hell didn't SA implement it?
fineleg Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Isnt the host responsible for UDRS? Just why the hell didn't SA implement it? No. Both boards must agree, and BCCI declined.
Zap_Brannigan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 No. Both boards must agree' date=' and BCCI declined.[/quote'] ohh..BCCI at it again. But ICC is dumb enough with its only 3 referral rule. I just heard yesterday that it is based on NFL and NFL has guys watching the replay to call a referral. Yet the ICC wants players to do it on faith? Why cant the players even look at the replay in big screen? There were 2 instances yesterday when UDRS wouldnt have helped but a 3rd umpire watching the replay could have. First was a LBW that we didn't even appeal against Morkel. We thought it was inside edge but it was pad first. Second was Ishants no-ball which wasn't. In both these cases, the players wouldn't have appealed (maybe the later would have been appealed if we had referrals left by then) but could have been easily give out by 3rd umpire.
fineleg Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 You are right, in NFL there are special teams in place for referrals and challenges. There needs to be a revisit of the UDRS - but no one in ICC seems to have a clue on how to go about this system. One thing is clear - technology needs to be brought in, its high time the right decisions are made.
vvvslaxman Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Overall umpiring is okay in this series. It looked bad because they came in succession. ABDV decision looked out in real time. But Boucher looked clearly not out in real time. I don't know what the heck umpire was thinking.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 nobody is denying the necessity of UDRS in test cricket. but the problem here, isn't UDRS. its short term thinking, scapegoating and bull*****ing based on hypothetical scenarios to suit the agendas of phaggots that cant accept that india is the best team in test cricket. people that want to cry will find a reason to cry no matter what happens. watch how this happens even WITH UDRS in place. with the three referrals in a match, people will start crying when the 4th turns out to be a horrible umpiring decision going india's way.

A Team that lost by an innings and then wins the next test with some shoddy umpiring is not the best team in the world :winky:. I personally think England, SA and India can all contend for that spot. But that's besides the point of this thread, BCCI needs to stop refusing UDRS or else all of India's achievements will have an asterisk next to it.

maaki Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Some of the stump cam decisions i am not convinced, a mis calibrated camera can result in a wrong result. No wonder india does not want it. Either way if udrs is the way to go , udrs should be used to review all out decisions and then the fielding team should get 3 challenges on not outs, that would take some of the element of luck out of udrs, because the current system leaves the call on the on field batsmen and fielders , most of the time they are not in a position to ask for udrs NFL has udrs , but the suggestion usually comes from the assistant coach sitting upstairs and has access to tv replays to aid.
Rajiv Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 As Ravi said, it has to be Standardized all across the board, you can't have it for 1 series with 1 part of the technology ..PS, those who are crying about the umpiring decision, Indian Team has been on the receiving end since donkey years aside from referee bias so just put this tripe aside
