When you look at the team we have Harbhajan and Ashwin both offies. Since Ashwin did well in the chances he got and if they had to go with one off spinner they had to drop Harbhajan. You think the selectors will do that especially to a player who has the backing of Tendulkar. So as usual they took the path of least resistance and dropped Ojha who head to head is better than Harbhajan in all formats of the game if one is willing to give him the chances. So instead he is made the scapegoat. Harbhajan Singh is the single biggest curse presently to have hit Indian cricket despite his mediocrity with the ball. He is just killing the potential young spin bowling options while taking away an automatic spot for no reason in all formats. Ideally one of Ashwin/HS, Ojha and Chawla would have been perfect for this SA ODI's since they wanted a leg spinner in the side. But then Harbhajan is untouchable and they wanted Ashwin in and rightly so but the boom was lowered on the wrong guy that is Ojha who has no god fathers or selectors from his state in the panel to fight for him despite him being the best specialist spin bowling option in the nation all things considered. Hope curses like this will not weigh in on India's WC chances and we lose for those of you who believe in Karma.

Yes anything what we do not agree with will sound like a rant. And by the way when we are talking about bowling why are we bringing in the batting. Harbhajan is there first and foremost in tests for his bowling. Let us focus on that. Unless I am missing something he embarrassed us more with his bowling than not over the last two years in Tests and this guy commands an automatic spot in the playing XI as a specialist spinner as the first choice and I am the one ranting. And how would you know that others if given the same kind of the chances would not better that. So in other words unless you try out all options you will never know especially if the said bowler who is enjoying an automatic spot is far removed from what he once was. If you read my post correctly I said one among Ashwin or Harbhajan should have been selected for the off spinners spot for ODI's which means if Ashwin is there then Harbhajan goes. Instead the boom falls on a up and coming spinner which is sad in itself. Which ever way one looks at this something does not add up correctly. P.S.:-And I stand by everything I said about HS the bowler and the curse he is. After a while of non performance in the Test arena it gets frustrating.

Team is ok. Too many bowlers selected. Sree should not have been. For that matter even Nehra is useless. Jadeja should have been in the team IMO. His batting hasn't quite lived up to potential yet, but his bowling is pretty handy. Saurabh Tiwary should have been picked instead of the extra bowler.

though not a big fan , uttapa might have been given a go now that its clear kartik is out of WC squad. In indian conditions he would be handy lower down the order, plus a decent fielder and worst case scenario can keep wickets. During WC lets say Dhoni has to skip a game or two i have no clue what BCCI will do, cant drop Dhoni for the squad and ICC wont allow replacing someone else in the middle of WC. Who keeps wicket in such a scenario ? Kohli ? or gambhir ?

Parthiv Patel will be in the WC squad for sure. Maybe they did not deem him necessary for the SA tour for whatever reason. Its a 16 man squad for the WC right? I think DK should have been in contention for longer though, he was unfairly shunted in as opener when he is a no 4 or 5 and was doing ok in the middle order- MotM in the Asia Cup final after all (I think)

Dubbed challenging to start with, the African safari has been reasonably successful for Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men, who avoided a Test series loss in the country for the first time earlier this month. But there have been problems to deal with and they have mostly been about players' fitness. Already missing key players such as Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, the injury list has only grown longer with the pace duo of Praveen Kumar and S Sreesanth in doubt for the first ODI due to hand and elbow problems respectively. It is the final ODI series that India and South Africa play before the World Cup, starting February 19, and both the sides would look to settle their squads for the big event through these five matches. The series is a golden opportunity for the likes of Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina to make a case for World Cup selection. They did well for themselves and the team by guiding India to a fine 21-run win in the Twenty20 match on Sunday with valuable batting contributions. The absence of biggies such as Sehwag and Gambhir now gives them an opportunity to hog the limelight in the ODIs as well but also creates the pressure of performing and performing consistently. The series will see the return of the iconic Sachin Tendulkar to the Indian one-day fold after close to a year. The last time he played an ODI, Tendulkar became the first batsman in the history of the game's format to strike a double hundred. The opposition in that historic match at Gwalior also happened to be South Africa and Graeme Smith and his men would be praying that the champion batsman does not do an encore. For the off-colour Yuvraj Singh, it is the final chance to convince the selectors that he is the same destructive force which won India many a matches before the stunning slump of form. On the bowling front, the ever-reliable Zaheer Khan will spearhead the attack after being rested for Sunday's Twenty20 international but his back-up seems a little weak given the uncertainty over the availability of Sreesanth and Praveen. In case the injured duo is ruled out, Ashish Nehra and the rather inconsistent Munaf Patel would be the options for India. Harbhajan Singh will as usual shoulder the spin responsibilities. South Africa, on the other hand, would be, missing prolific all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who is nursing an injury.
