Jadeja out, Chawla in 16-member ODI team for SA India at full strength for South Africa ODIs India have named a full-strength squad for the ODI and Twenty20 series in South Africa, which is their last international limited-overs assignment before the 2011 World Cup begins in February. Piyush Chawla, the legspinner, is the only new name in the 16-man list, having played an ODI last in 2008. Ravindra Jadeja has been left out of the team while Yusuf Pathan, who impressed during the home series against New Zealand, has been retained. My favourite? When did I say that? I checked the stats Ojha has done well and surely when our selectors are giving tons of chances to players to grab the 2nd spinner spot, you have to give some chances to Ohja

Selection is GOOD .. only Mistake is of selecting MUNAF.. they should have groomed Umesh Yadav and played him here... WHY? Bcos.. Munaf is HISTORY.. MUNAF follows the ball till it crosses the boundary and picks it when the ball stops..He is a useless fielder... I dont think he is the right influence in the team as he is one guys who can always ball faster and better and get wickets still He will bowl slower and slower, 105k to 120 K...Latest on him is that he has slowed down further and is now bowling slower than Praveen Kumar. Why i Say wrong influence bcos guys like Umesh/Jaidev/Sreesanth and Ishant would also try to bowl slow and maintain length seeing him..He is a wrong Influence. Already Indian Bowlers have a very BAD record of slowing down.... Vishal

With three offies (four if you count Raina) and Yuvrajs part time SLA there what Piyush does is give the attack a bit of variety. He was a good ODI spinner for a while when he played for us, ODI series in Eng I think and can bat a bit. Good idea I think. Though it is a bit surprising that there is no Parthiv. Sree Santh there just as reserve I hope!
