Guys who has been your Most Valuable Player for Team India in the last 2 years? For me it is Zak.He is the real brain of our bowling attack.Without him our attack looks headless.Not only does he make the ball talk,but he guides other trundlers and makes them look decent.

In my book VVS is the true Indian MVP.... too bad he did not get the ton, but this guy has time and time again bailed India out. He may not be the best Indian batsman in terms of technique or runs, but in terms of his contribution to the Indian team he is ahead of SRT, RD and Gavaskar (I have high regard for all of them), IMHO. We may still lose from here (302 is not enough I think), but kudos to the man from Hyderabad who has the heart of a Lion.

I think he should bat up the order in 2nd Inn. So many times he does not have the time to finish and runs out of partners. He can be tried at #3 spot, and interchange with Dravid. That way if Laxy gets a start, he wont have to worry so much about running out of partners.

He seems to be doing that more often than not lately. However, our "best batting lineup" has let us down AGAIN. If we lose this test and probably will, it lies squarely on our batting stalwarts VS, RD and SRT for not putting up a fight.

Too bad, he didn't get much support from the likes of Tendulkar, who seems to fail when the conditions are testing as can be seen by his 30 odd in the first inning at Centurian and then the two duds he played at Durban

Actually the legend of VVS keeps growing. He is one player who literally proved that you do not have to have the statistical accomplishments alone to be considered an all-time great batsman. Today's knock only adds to that greatness and mind you he has almost 8000 Test runs with 65 scores of 50 or more and a bunch of them real blinders that help set up the team to win, or draw in tough conditions and on a few occasions played match winning knocks from situations which lesser mortals can only dream of. He is a real great batsman without an iota of doubt who is incredibly talented and has the mental fortitude of a heavyweight boxer. And he aptly has the most unique initials in all of sports. Very Very Special - VVS.

Appears as if you forgot that Dhoni and Bhaji scored 33 and 27 respectively in the first innings too. Clearly someone is not getting the context here and trying to turn this in to Tendular vs XYZ :hysterical: It is much easier for him to open in the ODIs and bat at 4 in tests then bat at 4 in tests and open in tests. Which is why he lines up to do that :giggle: .... Because you posted his avg, it again shows you don't get the point and can't see beyond stats :P

please see your first post in this thread and then you will know who started this comparison. All people were applauding Laxman and you (characteristically) come and start this debate and then lay the blame squarely on someone else.

WTF.. Cricket is team game, you can't expect all your 6 batsman to score runs, but those who get set should go and score big...SRT had bad game (his durban record is poor)...VVS played great knock but if you see had lot of luck twice inside edges missed the stumps, good for him, we needed that luck...I don't know why you all say SRT failed under pressure. Well he was suppose to fail for once... Again its team game, and its foolish to knock one player against other. As far as I know they are playing for same team and respect each other.

This inning will be one of the greatest inning played by any Indian batsmen under testing conditions against world's best fast bowling attack currently and under severe pressure, Laxman has played several such epic innings this very year but all in India except one which was in Lanka. This was a completely different pitch with completely different challenges and Laxman has come out as trumps here again. I'll NEVER EVER forget this inning which has been far worthy than many double centuries. It was an unforgettable, yet another shiny gem studded in Laxman's glittering career which has established him as India's greatest and most reliable crisis man. Is there anyone better than Laxman in the time of crisis in India's test history Bossbhai? Can your stats tell us that?
