North India doesn't have any. Unless you call the ueber clean banks of the Yamuna in Delhi as a beach. :D Kerala has a 100% literacy rate, and I commend them on that BUT from my personal experience they can't even give directions in any language that is not Malayalam. A few years ago, with my college friends I was in Kerala for a holiday. So we had to check into this YWCA in Cochin. We asked a few people for directions, and got conflicting answers. Some said take a left. Some said go ahead for 20 minutes and take a left. Some said take a right from the tree (and there were trees everywhere). One guy even asked us if he could come along with us. :eyedance: FInally, we reach the hostel and are assigned room no. 13. The sister asks us to proceed to our room. So we reach this T junction, where there's a big board that says Rooms 5-30 what the heck??? So much for 100% literacy :cantstop:

I think you have missed the point. I am sure the people who gave you directions gave you conflicting answers for a reason; they were trying to educate your young mind that it's the journey that's important, not the destination.:--D As for the beaches, there are plenty of em if you know where to look for them, plus you do know I am annexing Goa. They may have not been articulate, but the intent to help can't be denied. Up North, even the tourist guides are not helpful ( experiences in UP mainly). However they are very articulate in letting you know that they can't be of much help. :haha:

And seriously, there is no comparison of norths jalebi and south jalebi, here they dont even know how to make it. Here, having jalebi is like drinking suger syrup. They dont even know how to make a chapati either.
