Kallis best all rounder EVER!

I used to always think Sobers was the greatest ever all rounder ever and that would be how it is for eternity. I even started a thread that Kallis was second greatest all rounder ever after Sobers. But its time to get those rose tinted glasses of about Sobers and face reality. Sobers was amazing but KALLIS is the man. Simply unblievable player with bat and ball. No doubts in my mind. Kallis is the greatest all rounder ever!

Kallis isn't that great a bowler.He is the 2nd greatest all rounder ever after Sobers. BUT he is definitely the GREATEST CRICKETER OF THE MODERN ERA.

You didnt get my Point. Kallis the bowler is garbage. Most of the wickets he has got is due to the bowlers bowling with him being more than World Class and he has always operated in Helpful Conditions. Do you think Kallis would have managed that many wickets had he played for India? How many times did you see Indian batsmen being 'Troubled' By kallis? Having said that Kallis remains one of the greatest Test batsman of this Generation on par with Goddy,RD,Lara and Punter.

Kallis's performance in current match has done nothing to improve his all-round credentials. Overall numbers may tell 270 test wickets, but anyway you can't say that he is a balanced all-rounder. He is a very good batsman who delivers with the ball some times. AFAIR, Kallis "the bowler" has never been a threat. In my understanding, true all rounder is one who can stake claim for a position in team through either of two skills - batting and bowling. Kallis as bowler would not find a place in SA team. In modernd era I can think of C Cairns as most balanced all-rounder. Imran was also balanced all rounder for a brief period of time in late eighties. From old era Kieth Miller was definitely one.

Its funny how people are quick to recognize Sobers (without ever seeing him play) as the best ever all rounder on stats, while when it comes to Kallis his bowling prowess is being questioned based on what people have seen ? All allrounders in history are specialist batsmen or bowlers who are at best competent in the other department. This is how all allrounders have been. Wonder why Kallis is being judged by diff standards. Just incase you guys havent realized, Kallis has Javagal Srinathesque bowling stats (who is one of our best fast bowlers). 270 wickets @ 32, bowling at close to 130kph, is something even a Ishant Sharma would be proud of. Without doubt, Kallis is the best allrounder ever.

Good one. :--D I do agree with Andy that his bowling is crap. How he got those wickets, I don't know, don't care. When I see him bowl I just see mediocrity. Regarding Sobers and not having seen him, etc, when you don't get to see someone, you go by what you read. When you can see mediocre bowling, you don't need to rely on what others have to say.
