Steyn is a great bowler but i would always rate wasim as the better out of these two. Does using reverse swing well make him any inferior? :giggle: What is this Indian standard btw? He played 8 innings in India, and ended up with 3 wickets in an innings or more in 6 of them. Out of the remaining 2, in one he bowled just 2 overs, and really went "barren" in just 1 innings out of 8, at Kolkata where he took 1-115 on a tailor made spin den. If that qualifies as the ONLY Indian wicket he has played on, perhaps we need to redefine what makes up India. His haul at Chennai included 3 guys who made centuries in their careers. Also 4/100 odd in 32 overs isn't exactly a "hammering" when you consider the overall economy rate. In fact Steyn's ER was lesser than his career avg.

No bowler in the history of the game has had this kind of record. I think it's safe to say he is arguably among the top 3 bowlers of all time.

Averages in the countries he played in : In Aus - 27.48 In NZ - 14.15 In Eng - 20.04 In WI - 32.30 You seem to apply all sorts of filters and subfilters when it comes to Steyn but seem to comfortably put them away in case of your guys like Akram and Trueman? Trueman played just 20 away tests and took 78 wickets @ 26 in those - i.e less than 4 per match. Made hay on bowling friendly tracks at home and nothing away.

Now all these must have been green pitches, weren't they?

Statistically Steyn matches upto any player who played cricket in the modern era (post 1960/70). Strike rates are an important part of the game, his strike rate trounces that of likes of hadlee/ mcgrath/ ambrose etc. And his average is not far off. All the bowlers in the previous eras had bowlers who were as good as them, with the exception of Steyn.
