But if you don't drop an under-performing player how else will he improve :dontknow: I doubt Steyn would have improved if he had continued to play every game for SA.
He was already dropped in 2010 and came as a hugely improved since then and showed he can take wickets in tests. Steyn did not show that and hence was dropped. Steyn never played large no. of ODIs even after his come back in his early years, 2006 onwards, mostly tests which helped him a lot.

Don't buy that. You can play and sensibly. You have a bowling coach' date=' many advisors, can ask for rest, diet and training control. It's all there if you want to follow it.[/quote'] He was rested in Asia cup, did not play all the ODIs or T20s even in Australia.

green track bully eh? tracks in UAE were unbearably flat those days. look at the averages of your so called spinners, who were supposed to get more assistance than pacies. ajmal: 65.66 rehman: 48.55 hafeez: 55.5 gul: 85.5 not to mention morne morkel averaged 45 with the bat :cantstop:

What is the excuse for averaging 36 in Sri Lanka?
he played just one series, and that was at the start of his career in 2006. plus he ran into that 637 run partnership between mahela and sangakkara.

LOL' date=' he had just come back form injury and bowled on some of the flattest tracks ever.[/quote'] Still he was outbowled by morkel .When there is no swing steyn struggles particularly to lefthanders he averages around 30 against them.

Pitches in sa are far for bowler friendly than australia or eng .he averages 22 in sa in many matches to 29 in eng,26 in aus.Pitches do play a part.if you play day in day out on flat picthes in sc it will surely affect players, thats why akram was regarded so highly.

He also particularly doesn't do well against right hand batsmen who have a low grip, play spin well, and stand up two paces outside the crease. :hatsoff:
