yoda Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 What we need is some grass roots initiative to produce fast bowlers, so that it is part of the culture. Trundlers making it all the way to the National team is a disgrace.

Trundlers making it all the way to the National team is a disgrace. What we need is literally more grass on the pitches. How do you expect to churn out fast bowlers if they have to bowl in absolute flat pitches in hot weather. Granted Pakistan was able to nourish this talent , but it's much more easier and lucrative for Indians to turn to batting , spin rather than break their backs bowling fast , knowing that they are one injury away from ending their cricket careers.

Clarke Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Jan 2011 - June/July 2011 How much red meat they have to eat in these months to bowl phaassttttt ?
coffee_rules Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Yeah right. While we are at it, we should also ask Indian politicians to return all the loot and surrender.
Ramzz Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Jan 2011 - June/July 2011 Can BCCI request RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan and other such players to undergo mandatory regimented training for future tours? (and skip IPL) Appoint some good coaches, physical trainers to work with some of our bowlers. Some of these folks are not part of the WC2011 squad so they can use the time from now (Jan) till July 2011 to seriously work on the bowling + fitness (ofcourse they'll have to be asked to skip the IPL circus for this). That way by the time of WI or Eng tour(Sep 2011?) at least we can get some in-shape, and in-form bowlers or at least MAKE AN ATTEMPT at that! In fact not just limited to these bowlers, even other bowlers who are available should undergo fitness+bowling skills training with some good coaches. Whatever you are requesting is good for the bowlers but they themselves won't skip IPL. Convincing BCCI on players skipping IPL is another challenge altogether. They don't care about Indian cricket. The only hope I see is people like Kumble/Srinath/Ganguly coming up the ranks to administer the game the way it should be. Only then preference would be given to national duties.
vamos_rafa Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Irfan is training at the NCA. And again he's made statements that he's back to his best(Again!!!)
