Zaheer Khan vs Mohammed Asif

All of you guys raving about Asif's bowling, do you know for sure if he was clean during any of his so called great spells? For example, the Karachi test where he bowled well against us, was he taking drugs then? I don't know and can't give him the benefit of doubt cause he has been caught with drugs in his pee or pants several times. So, essentially, he could have been on drugs ever since his debut. If someone is on drugs, their performance simply cannot be taken into account.
How do drugs help you bowl a perfect line and length and swing and seam the ball? His speed has always been in low to mid 80's throughout his career.

Drugs help you perform at a higher level, period. When you are banned for doping, they don't ask, how exactly did taking this dope affect this guy's performance, do they? Taking drugs help you forget pain, helps your endurance, helps you focus better, all of these help various facets of all sports in one way or the other. Here from a web link. Will let you google for it. :winky:
What effect do increased levels of nandrolone have on sportspeople? There's a belief that it will enhance acute exercise performance and improve the effectiveness of training. As an anabolic steroid similar to testosterone it can contribute to increases in muscle mass and strength. Anabolic steroids are generally combined with resistance training and high protein intake in the belief that performance requiring speed, strength and power will be enhanced. The other effect of stimulating EPO could be an increased production of red blood cells and aerobic capacity. Because of its small androgenic effects it can make a sports person more aggressive and competitive and it increases fatigue resistance. So the athlete may be able to train harder for longer.
So it makes you more competitive and aggressive, all helpful for fast bowling. It increases fatigue resistance, again helpful in fast bowling. It helps you train harder, helpful in all facts of any game. It is all common sense. When a person takes a banned substance, they are tainted. Any and all achievement in the sports arena by that person must be ignored cause it is simply impossible to pin point exactly which aspect of that person's game could have benefited from the drug usage. So instead of giving benefit of doubt to the druggie, benefit of doubt should be given to the hard working, untainted athlete against whom you are comparing the druggie.

Nandrolene is proven to increase muscle mass, bone density, and red blood cell counts. All of this leads to much quicker healing (it's known that Asif suffers from a chronic elbow problem), longer periods of stamina, and strength. Nandrolene affectively allows bowlers like Asif to bowl effectively and at close to maximum effort at all times which is naturally impossible. Usually bowlers tire later in the day after long spells. Instead Asif was able to bowl much better later in the day because he wasn't as fatigued. Akhtar has the exact same issue. Prior to being caught with Nandro Shoaib was able to bowl ODI spells and push himself really hard. Take a look at him in the last year and the guy literally looks like he's about to fall over from fatigue after just a few overs.

I guess you haven't seen Asif bowling to Lankans or plain tracks' date=' and [b']how can you forget what he did you Indians on a flat wicket? Ability wise forget comparison with Zaheer, Asif is better than Steyn. He literary makes the ball talk regardless of the condition of the pitch. Had he not missed countless number of games due to his own stupidity, he would have been a legend by now. Asif is/was once in a lifetime bowler.
Huh? Flat Track? That was a Green Track Dude.

have you ever seen steyn bowl? Forget his performances in UAE, those pitches were **** and he was injured, Steyn is a better bowler by miles.

It doesn't really matter now does it? Asif is no longer a bowler as the ICC will probably ban him for a few years and this time no PCB farce will be able to reinstate him.

I think he was/is better. If you think he isn't then so be it, it's your personal opinion but don't talk crap with personal attack. Don't resort to sh!t b/c I can give the exact sh!t back, but unlike you I don't like uttering crap out of my mouth. Learn to behave.

Asif would have become all time great if he only had some brains, seriously what a waste of a talent, and Zaheer khan can only become a great bowler if he improves his fitness, half the time he is either unfit or playing with a niggle

The pitch he took all those wickets in Lanka is the pitch which is well known to assist seamers.Check how low socring matches has been there and who are the wicket takers.
