Australia would have been lucky to cross 150 against Lanka in the match that was washed out. They were EXTREMELY lucky to come out of that match with a point. We should have certainly lost to England in B’lore. Pakistan surprised everyone with a shock win over Lanka, but are now back at their collapsing best. South Africa messed up and EASY victory chance against England. England has alternated between the sublime and the ridiculous. No team is looking insurmountable at this point, which is weird because we have been so used to Australia lording over the rest of the teams, in the last 3 WCs. But as always, the advantage lies with the team whose major strength is their batting as opposed to bowling.

Eng have been the most exciting team as, so far, they have made every game interesting: 1. Made the game against Ned somewhat close 2. Tied with India 3. Lost to Ireland 4. Upset SA Judging by their performance against comparatively weaker and stronger teams, I won't be surprised if they go on to lose to either BD or WI and then surprise one of group A teams in the QF :giggle:

india being unbeaten right now means nothing. we have only played 1 decent side, that is england. if india can win the next 3, then that will be something worth talking about. i dont expect india to beat BOTH SA and WI. they will lose 1 of those games for sure

No wonder thw format of this worldcup suks and the real worldcup starts on march23...we havent evwn beaten one proper team and already in quarterfinals.

Feeling of slight Overconfidence today? Did anyone get this feeling while watching our innings? First of all, it was good strategy to go out with all guns blazing but that was an ordinary shot by Sehwag. Credit to the Dutch for removing Yusuf and Kohli. They bowled well especially Borren. Till the last bowl, you could see in his eyes that he believed he can cause a turn around. Looking at India's dressing room, it seemed like the guys were a touch over confident. Next thing you know, you're 5 wickets down and Yuvraj is under pressure. Any way, it was a good game for us...got some practice chasing. Lets hope Dhoni wins every toss from now on and elects to bat first because chasing against the big guns might cause some problems for us.

Yes ,they were overconfident and they wanted to overhaul Netherlands total in just 25 overs .I won't blame Sehwag ,he just bats like thats [thats his natural style of playing ],but the way Sachin got out was just disheartening . and Sending Pathan up the order failed too .

Why would you think it was overconfidence? They were clearly thinking about improving the Net Run Rate and this was the only match left where they could take chances to improve it. They tried to accelerate the inning since the beginning and even the loss of Sehwag didn't stop Sachin. Pathan was also sent up the order for that purpose only---to knock off quick runs so that NRR could be improved. But things don't go according to your plan always as the pitch was not easy to play strokes and our batsmen perished trying to go for bigger shots. No problem. We still went up from +77 to +99 which was not a big shoot up but was an improvement nontheless!! So try to understand the reasoning behind everything before blaming the approach of players!

It was the right approach. They tried to finish the game early but got out playing some silly shots. Once they understood that its not going to be a done and dusted affair, they shifted gears and assured India got to victory.

I think you should go about chasing small targets with overconfidence. Mostly teams get bogged down and eventually choke if they try playing out the fifty overs and getting the target on the way

I dont think they were over confident. This team is quite a professional team. Most strategies have some purpose behind it. If you go through our matches in the past, you will find that we always approach the games with a balanced head. Our plans didnt exactly work as expected, but then there was always a plan B.

I was happy that they went with that plan. We scored most runs in first powerplay. It was right approach upfront, because when ball gets older no easy to time to ball, so sachin and sehwag had right approach and sending pathan was good move. they probably thought even if we lose 3-4 wickets we will still have yuvi, kohli, gambhir or dhoni to play sensibly.

Imo It was the perfect approach to a low target. All in all it shows the depth that we have in our batting lineup. Credit to the dutch bowlers though for taking early breakthroughs bowling wicket to wicket in spite of lacking in variations and pace.

I thought we have had quite a few good games so far .... And the purpose of the grp stages is to filter out 3 teams so you don't really have to beat a proper team. Though most sides in Ind's group are pretty decent
