The situation was the same in 2007, when we were the overwhelming favorites. BD, have improved in the last few years. No team can just expect to show up on the ground and beat them as was the case in the 90s. They'll give you a fight for your money. Plus, they are playing at home and many of our players seem to ave fitness issues even before we've played. Our boys will be rusty ( so will theirs) and have much more pressure to handle. This game will tell us loads about their character. Ideally I would have loved to see India open the WC campaign against South Africa or a major side at home. That way, we would go into the game with maximum seriousness and even if we lost that game, the team would be in a 'we must win the rest of the games no nonsense' mood against the lesser teams for the remaining group games.

You are really overestimating them, after the 2007 world cup we have been literally raping their behind back and fourth, they hardly won a game against us, also mind you they haven't proved Sehwag wrong too couldn't take 20 wickets in a test match. I agree with Gaurav we need to give the minnows a thrashing of their life in the opening game in their own backyard to shut these trolls up. Can't wait for the 19th

Only a few Bangladeshis who are illiterate and doesn't understand the game of cricket dreams like that. Me and my buddies didn't ever expect in our wildest dreams that we could have knocked out giant powers India in 2007 WC, my bet was on India and for that match my father even lost a decent sum of money. After the 2007 WC we took Bangladesh cricket serisouly, before that we always supported Pakistan, India or any other sides. We used to laugh at the Bangladesh pacers and batsmen, and always argued it was a national shame to let those jokers play test cricket. We still have a long way to go, NZ series was a fluke and I expect a thrashing coming our way this WC. I am sorry to say but with this team even in coming 10 years won't improve a tiny bit. But, it's good to have support from our neigboring countries like Pakistan and India. Just like how Dravid and Sachin appreciated our efforts, it means a lot for a minnow cricket nation. I don’t like to criticize people much but enough is enough. You are a pathetic and a hopeless person. If you are talking about your own country like that then you don’t even deserve to cheer for them. I would rather have a discussion with a logical person who thinks that BD will not go beyond the group stages than an immature idiot who thinks that BD will win the WC. BD not going past the 1st stage has a much much higher probability than winning the WC. What exactly was wrong in his statement other than not following your "blindly follow your national team even when they are *****y" opinion? Lets analyze his statements. Did anyone sane say that BD were favorites against India in 2007 WC? No. Chance of winning and then later actually upsetting are much different than expecting to win. He feels that it is a shame for BD to play test cricket. This is a somewhat prevalent opinion.They have lost more than half their games by an innings, hardly even put up a fight or even draw without the help of rain gods. BD, statistically are the worst team to have ever played test cricket. "NZ was a fluke". Seeing as its their only series win against a good/decent team in the dozen years they have played ODI cricket, it is a one-off. Unless they win atleast a couple more series soon, it is a fluke.

Do you really feel that if someone is born in Calcutta, then they have to believe that Mohan bagan would win against Manchester United?Not everyone is uber optimistic. People will support their teams even when they are weak, but if the same people go around shouting that their weak team will beat every strong team, it just seems stupid.
