Jersey #10 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I think Bangladesh is not a minnow team going into this world cup. They have quality spinners, quality captain, a couple of very good batsmen and to add to all that they have their home pitches.
vvvslaxman Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Who thinks Bangladesh is a formidable force in this WC? Bangla fans
KKR88 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 they are pretty decent side and any good asian team not taking them seriously is going to loose, some non asian big team will loose regardless
pakeeza1990 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 yes i am agree with your statement Bangladesh is one of the Quality team in the world of Cricket and this time more because they are going with the spinners and they also beat the new zealand in their home conditions so i think they are the best fighter in this world cup 2011
punjabi_khota Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Kriterion, that BD guy with the lion that seems to be going nowhere and rest of BD troals including pakeeza
DomainK Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 They have recently beaten NZ and Zimbabwe on home tracks which might be a significant improvement by their normal standards, but that does not make them a "formidable force" in the word cup.
Sachinism Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Decent side, could threaten a few sides, no doubt
jf1gp_1 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 sakib is the only above avg player ; how can a team be termed formidable force with just one player
ch1234 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Bat well against them.. Put the score beyond the reach.. If India has to bowl first, then we have to be careful..
Sachin=GOD Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Bangladesh are currently in a precarious position in World cricket - if they beat teams like Aus/Eng/India etc, its no longer considered a big upset and yet if they lose to teams like Ireland/Zim/Kenya/Holland etc, that also is not considered an upset. In subcontinent conditions they will be a dangerous team but IMO they are not going to go past the quarter finals.
Watson87 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I don't see Bangladesh reaching the Quarters, an early first round exit for them. Even West Indies is stronger than them. They hardly have any players who are averaging above 40 with the bat, only Shakib with a decent average and strike rate, Tamim is below average player in ODIs, averaging below 30s, pathetic. The rest of the players are incompetent.
diegovegaz Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 their bowling is their strength have a couple of big hitters lower down the order middle order is the weakness
Gotham Cronie Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 They have a tough group. India South Africa England West Indies Bangladesh Ireland Netherlands. Since only 4 teams go past round 1, that basically brings it down to 1 team from: West Indies Bangladesh Ireland Netherlands. It wouldn't be a surprise if Bangladesh make it to the quarter-finals instead of West Indies.
The Outsider Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Who thinks Bangladesh is a formidable force in this WC? People who compare Laxman with street dogs, maybe?
rahulrulezz Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Donny know y but I fear for our first match in Bangladesh. Bd are an ok team outiside out BD but they r a strong team in Bd as pitches are on slower sides n avg score is 230
Jersey #10 Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 I think they will make it to the Semis. They are def. not underdogs coming into this tournament. There is no point in being way too confident because India were minnows going into the '83 world cup as well.

India had just beaten West Indies on their own turf in an ODI going into the world cup. They were not favorites. But definitely not minnows.
