Sachinism Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Series homepage on cricinfo - http://www.espncricinfo.com/vijayhazare2010/content/series/471506.html 1st innings for most teams been completed Baroda bowled out for 136 vs Mumbai Abdulla picking up 5-38 M Tiwari scored 88 vs Orissa Abid Nabi playing for J&K - got 2 wickets Sumit Narwal is making runs for Delhi every bloody game, could be a decent all-rounder, needs to get his bowling more on track now Vinay Kumar 4-35 vs Goa Meenaria batting at 3 made 63 vs Railways
Chandan Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks Sachinism for reminding about it. I noticed that Irfan Pathan has been playing for Baroda too, nearly after 8-10 months I suppose. Though he has scored a duck while batting, it'll be interesting to see how he bowls. Hope few journalists are keeping an eye on the match, so that we get a report too. Is Jaipur not playing today? Akash Chopra was saying that his team was all geared up. It'll be interesting to see how Chahar goes in Limited overs cricket! Can't think of any other player who we need to keep an eye on.
Sachinism Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Rajasthan are playing 171ao Chopra made 30 odd, Meenaria 63 and not much from anyone else
saneindian Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 So Irfan is finally back playing domestic cricket. And looks like he got injured (or maybe was cautious) after bowling 2.5 overs. 2.5 overs, 12 runs and a wicket.
Cricketics Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Really excited about Sumit Narwal. For a person who comes late down the order, he is consistently scoring some runs and is bowling well. I think sooner or later, we will get to see him in Indian team in tests I believe.

I've seen him in many matches this season!
Cricketics Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 That'll be worst because he is a terrible bowler..nowhere near world class! I've seen him in many matches this season! What about Parvinder Awana and Pawan Suyal?? Haven't watched a single Ranji game or clip for a while because of lack of coverage here. Whats going on with the above 2 mentioned players??
Chandan Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Couldn't watch Suyal as he wasn't playing in the game shown. And can't even remember Awana, which means he must not have been impressive, if he was playing! This season has been the most disappointing as far as bowling is concerned and you can see the lack of quality even at the top of the table, be it a spinner or a seamer. A Pankaj Singh or Vinay Kumar can never be of any use to India, especially tests. And don't we need at least two good test seamers and a good test spinner, preferably a leg-spinner? But no! That is why I want Irfan to come back from his injury and regain his full fitness and form. If he gets his 2004-05 form back, then we'll have one bowler in reserve. Not sure where the leggie will come from, seeing how badly Amit Mishra bowled!
Sooda Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Seems Irfan didnt do too badly took a wicket with the new ball, though he got a duck. Is Pankaj Singh nowhere near test class then... Shame.

kabira Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 yes Irfan pulled a hammy...not sure how serious it is. rather unfortunate

Didn't check his stats, but regardless of how he would have bowled, I believe he is still one of the better bowlers in India. May be better than Nehra and Munaf too. Yes, surely he hasn't done anything perhaps to be selected anytime soon, but how is going these days?

Yes, surely he hasn't done anything perhaps to be selected anytime soon, but how is going these days?[/quote'] No. He isn't. He is still overweight and is too slow and has become wayward as well with nothing in his bowling that makes him India-class. You can read rkt-India's account when he wrote about RP Singh and Pankaj Singh's bowling while Central Zone were bowling in the Duleep trophy thread. As for Pathan injury, this is what was quoted in papers: After 11-month layoff, Irfan suffers injury again Tushar Tere, TNN, Feb 11, 2011, VADODARA: Left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan's attempts at a comeback after a gap of 11 months suffered a huge setback when he suffered a hamstring injury playing for Baroda against Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare West Zone Trophy at Motibaug ground on Thursday. Irfan could bowl only 17 balls before he started facing pain in his left knee. The incident again raised doubts about Irfan's fitness. The player has been out of action since last year's IPL. He stopped midway through a delivery in his third over and returned back to his run-up mark, tried to bowl again but went down on the ground in pain as the team physio rushed to treat him. After a while, Irfan was seen limping out of the ground and did not play the rest of the match. "Irfan has pulled his hamstring. It is not clear yet how serious it is. It is bound to happen as he is playing after a long period," said a Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) official. Irfan had told TOI ahead of the IPL 4 auction in January that he had recovered from his back injury and would make a comeback in the Ranji one-dayers. The young team is heavily banking on the all-rounder. When Baroda were batting, he was bowled for a duck by Mumbai spinner Iqbal Abdullah off the second ball he faced.
Sachinism Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Poor Irfan. Must be a terrible feeling to finally make a come back and its ended in less than 3 overs
Sachinism Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Mumbai destroying Gujarat :(( Nayar scores a ton, Chitnis blazed a 60
vvvslaxman Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Badri continues his amazing run. This guy is red hot form. Should definitely be given one more chance. So is Abhinav Mukund.
vvvslaxman Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Mumbai destroying Gujarat :(( Nayar scores a ton, Chitnis blazed a 60 With all the focus on Nohit sharma we lost track of Nayar. He is in good form now.
