King Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Unfair to have moved Kohli down the order, he is India's best batsman in recent times. I still can't get what did Kohli did wrong in the last game? Why Yuvi ahead of Kohli? Neither was Yuvi in any better form than Kohli and Kohli has been good against fast and slow bowling equally. Good to have Yuvi in form but Kohli deserved better after his recent knocks.
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 ^ You are talking about it being unfair to Kohli that he got moved down the order. One more 50 by Yuvi and Kohli will be replaced by Raina. I am not saying it...Dhoni said it. And Yuvi came in cuz we need everyone in form before the worldcup starts on march 23..seems logical to me...

I just don't get it... was yesterday's game a charity show or a prelude to world cup? The world cup is here already and the team has been picked on their form prior world cup. If they are trying to get players to get some form during the world cup (I hope not) then there's something wrong. You got to make the best out of the players that are in form currently. Against lesser opponents I can understand but against England? I think there's usually no logic behind sending players, Dhoni sends anyone that he feels on the day can get runs. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's still unfair you sacrifice a batsman that has been consistent through out the year with good strike rate and in different conditions to get a batsman that has potential but known for inconsistency.

Do you reckon Dhoni would sacrifice Tendulkar or Sehwag or Gambhir for Yuvi? Kohli was a scapegoat for either Dhoni's instinct or his experiments. Yuvi wasn't bad in the end but they wasted Kohli's good form.

England and South Africa are our two most crucial games. If we had won both, we finish on top and play against New Zealand in the QF which should be relatively easier than Sri Lanka or Pakistan. Same with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia. The team which finishes first plays against Bangladesh/West Indies in the QF. Everything to play for.
riwi999 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I agree with the decision to send Yuvi ahead of Kohli. Yuvi needed the time in the middle. Though he got a 50, I did not find him particularly convincing. Some of the shots that went for four would have gone for six if he'd been in form. I just hope he gets back to form during the tournament because a Yuvi in form will be such a big relief. Not that I don't trust our other batsmen but Yuvi can easily help take us to 350+ in every game. And that looks like what we will need anyway.

To win the worldcup we have to take down 3 teams so better deliver a knockout punch before than later.
NareshK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 It does matter a lot. If India get to the Semi Final stage they will have a lot more confidence than at the QF stage. If you give Pakistan an option if they want to face Bangladesh or India in the QF, do you think they will pick India ?
King Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I would rather have about 6 batsman in good form than have about 8 as you can't play more than 6 batsman in a team, doesn't matter if it's a QF or semis or finals. No one would like to make a change in semis or finals for consistency's sake and to stick to winning combination. Dhoni is a definite so there's only place for 6. I'm definitely not for experiments in the world cup. You need a good consistent selection and players knowing their role in the team. Swapping and changing in every game the batting line up for no apparent reason will only give raise to doubts in the player's minds and screw up their thought process.
DomainK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I hope Yuvi is back in form for good for the rest of the tournament. We will come to know in the next few matches. And if that's the case, I dont mind the tie, we have gained enough from this match. An in-form Yuvraj Singh will make this batting line up completely invincible on any track.
ludhianvi Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Much needed time in the middle for Yuvi. Hopefully, this is the start of good things to come for him.

Dhoni likes UV... no threat to him... Kohli is a future captain of India .
Ranjha Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 100 odi wickets for Yuvraj Singh If he took his bowling seriously earlier he would have reached arnd 250. He might end up with abt 150 I reckon. First 5fer but against a minnow....decent job as an allrounder.
Ranjha Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Looks like I miscalculated..He is at 99...well he should get it next game.
