India on the other hand ... :S That is overstatement, Australia thrashed England 6-1 and there is a reason why they are number 1 in ODI rankings, Pakistan is playing good cricket but don't think they can snatch a win against the Aussies. Australia is the second balanced team after South Africa. Bare in mind the last time they lost a match in world cup was back in 1999 against Pakistan that too against an attack consisting of Wasim, Akhtar, Saqlain all on their prime form.

pinkfreud Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Pakistan really is looking good mostly because of their batting and bowling. Their fielding, like India, sucks big time. But like many people have already said, Pak has a tendency to swing like a pendulum.. they lost a warm up match against England, but won against Sri Lanka... but I have to question whether they would've won if Lasith Malinga had played in that match. There's been a lot of hype around Sri Lanka but for some reason I can't understand it all. Barring Murali and Malinga I don't see the long term potential of other SL bowlers. Their batting is a bit creaky, but the one thing in their favour is that they are extremely good in the field. For their part, Pak has a lot of batting depth too. Couple that with some good death bowlers and a steely resolve to achieve redemption after whatever has happened to Pak cricket.. and other teams need to be very careful. The one thing I like about Pakistani players is their aggression. Our Indian team harbours too much of a 'chalta hai' attitude in the field. Even our bowlers don't seem aggressive enough to intimidate the opposition's batsmen... but then again, India has consistency on its side.

Main test will come when teams like Aus/Sa/Ind even NZ get wicket of either Misbah/Younis's wicket early in innings. They have built platform for their batsmens like U.Akmal/Afridi/Razzak to just come and attack at opposition team & this won't happen in big matches as well. They know how to blow away subcontinent teams in world cup matches. Only competition will be SA for them. We all know how SA can make even ordinary bowlers look like legendary bowlers in crunch matches.

All am saying is Pak is showing a lot of power then i expected after the trio incident. Let's see what happens!
