A long time ago Norman Tebbit (British politician) accused us Indians (those born in India and those of Indian origin) in the UK of being disloyal to Britain by supporting India and not England in cricket, and yes most of us in the UK do proudly and very vocally support India (as wel will see this summer). Is ithis the same in other places outside India such as Oz, NZ, SA , Canada etc etc especially for those of us born outside India but of Indian origin ?

Allegiance to culture is burned into our psyche and no amount of "upbringing" and "environment" can change that. No wonder, inspite of being born in england, NRI's support our team. Same goes to pakistan. They consider themselves as a representative, not of pakistan, but of the muslims in the sub-continent. Even a substantial amount of indian muslims are die hard supporters of pakistan. In 1992, when pakistan won the world cup, there were celebrations in Hyderabad's Old city... But as I've grown older I'm more neutral when these two play. I still support India more but if England beat India tomorrow I won't be too upset. With age you change and us Indians in the UK are lucky to live in England, a country which gives us a good standard of living and great chances to succeed in life. Chances we would not get in India.

BTW: This thread must be moved to politics section what bakwas on the other hand, if Canada was a good cricket team, I wud surely have supported them... though I found that DISGUSTING when Indian fans booed English team in T2009 cup in England.... that was just pathetic...its ok to support India but seriously booing and abusing English team..the same country where you are living and enjoying life.. If I was a white english sitting in the stadium, I wud start hating every Indian after that

England would become third world country in next 2 decades. And btw if you are an intelligent person your standard of living in India would be as good as west. And please we know how much honest British politician are .

BTW: This thread must be moved to politics section keep that to ur self, I saw some right wing hindus abusing some muslims in ahmedabad when india won t20 world cup because india beat pakistan, wtf wat was all that about, in that match they were 2 muslim players playing for india and one of them was man of the match.

If you love it, you support it in sport and whenever required no matter what. If you don't, well that's just it. Living standards etc will change with time and vary from person to person in any nation. Of course, i wouldn't be enthusiastic if my country men seemed to support another nation, but that is still acceptable over actual traitors committing treason.

However the international students [mainly Indian and Chinese] are making me look bad compared to them, working so hard and getting high grades, bastards.

There are a lot of barriers sadly in India which stop people being successful. I think if you are from a big town or city then you can have a good standard of living. But if you are from a village the chances are less. Why do you think a lot of people leave India, I'm sure out of every country in the world India must have the largest number of expatriats. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an Indian in nearly every country of the world. I know that India is improving, I go there every 5 years and I like what I see. Barriers also exist in England but not as much as India. England is one of those countries in which what you put in you get out. If you work hard you can achieve a lot. I see so many of these motivated Indian/Chinese students on the grad programme at my bank every year. Some of them scare me.

King Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 It's easy for some of you blokes as you can whole heartedly support India if you are particularly from US of A or Canada. I for one support NZ and India equally. I know at the moment NZ is no better than a minnow but here's hoping they can pick up a couple of wins and make it to quarters at least. As for India, I like the brand of cricket India plays particularly the batting. The batting quality of Indians make even Sri Lankans look like minnows. Strange I say this but India and West Indies are two teams that make batting look artistic. Lovely position they get into when playing shots. If you watched last night's game, SL v Pak you can understand what I mean. Absolutely ugly looking batting by both sides last night. Even when they defended they looked like they were batting with a shovel. Indian batters are good to watch barring Dhoni. The rest have picture perfect technique and great balance when they play their shots. I reckon Pakistan has one batsman that look sorted, Ahmed Shehzad (I know it sounds crazy). I don't mind admitting watching Ahmed Shehzad batting. Sanga and Mahela are lovely batsmen to watch but the rest of their team look novices with the bat.
