The good thing about the present situation is that we have 2 bowlers in the team who can hit atleast 90 mph . Perhaps if Ishant finds his place in the team questionable because of these 2, he may also start bowling a trifle quicker. Earlier, we only used to have one bowler in the team capable of hitting 90mph. Like Srinath, then Agarkar and Zaheer ,Munaf and then Ishant. These 2 can bowl in tandem and hence can conserve their pace for a longer period of time. I vividly remember when Zaheer started his international career, he was of the same pace as Varun.He used to hit 90mph.

Zaheer was not that consistent in hitting 140+. He was mainly in mid to high 130s and some times go to low 140s.

But PK has another skill that is swing both ways, which is a very useful skill to have. Remember, PK had the worse record for a fast bowler in India before this series in ODIs.

PK has mainly succeeded in England and WI where the ball was seaming and swinging a lot. We need bowlers who have reasonable pace as well as movement. Just pace or just movement or just accuracy won't do bro. We need everything to produce a strike bowler who can take wickets anywhere. Show me one strong pace bowling attack that has bowlers bowling mostly in the 120 s. Show me one test strike bowler who has taken more than 100 wickets bowling in the 120 s. What guys like you don't understand is that many of us are looking for pacers with all the qualities like pace, bounce, movement and accuracy and not just pace. Pace is the starting point and one quality that is rarely improved upon significantly whereas accuracy and movement are qualities that are almost always improved upon with a bit of exprerience unless you are Agarkar. :winky:

In his debut series, Zaheer was hitting 145 quite consistently especially in the finals. However, he did not exceed 145...If my memory serves me right, I think its not wrong..

yeah, he did touch 145 regularly in 2003 world cup in south africa. but in that series all indian bowlers were above 140kmph srinath 140kmph nehra even crossed 147kmph, zaheer 145kmph. But apart from these one or two series have not seen him touch 90mph, and later he dropped his pace intentionally, which he admitted later on, and then gave a comment saying Indian Bodies are not designed for fast bowling.

Agarkar was consistently the fastest ever Indian bowlers in the late 90s and early 2000s. Used to be around 86-87mph with top speeds around 90 mph. Even in those days, Zaheer was more around 85 mph on an average with his effort balls being over 87-88 mph. And in test matches, he used to be around 83-84 mph all the time.

Aaron was bloody excellent. I do hope he is not rushed into Test cricket any time soon. OD cricket is his format for the moment. He does not move the ball enough for Test cricket. The yorkers, reverse swing and accuracy show there is promise, just needs to maybe conventionally swing the ball more or hit the seam more. The way he worked over the tail was brilliant and I'm genuinely excited by his performance. He can clearly bowl in Indian conditions in 50 over cricket. It'll be interesting to see how well he travels and whether he has longevity to bowl well over a few seasons. I think Dhoni used him excellently but this point will be much debated.

After Such a long time watching indian fast bowler reverse swinging at that pace and bowling to tailenders was absolutely fantastic ,we more often see indian tailenders taking same beating from rest of the world fast bowlers.
