Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 ^^ WTF is ur beef with Yuvraj Singh? His strike rate was even better than Tendulkars.
ganeshran Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Not sure about him as well, not really a world class bowler but still a great spinner for india. He would be able to nothing LOL, and Ajmal , Rehman and Afridi are wordclass :hysterical::hysterical:
ganeshran Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Kohli is not a slogger, he is a proper test batsman. Lets not mess around with his batting order and give him 4-5 overs and ask him to go from ball 1
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 ^^ Actually his strike rate was much better than any guys that went past 50...be it Tendulkar,Strauss, or Bell. And Yuvi isn't even in full flow...He can be the most destructive odi batsman. The problem was with bowling and not batting.
rkt.india Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 That was another of Dhoni's mistakes..sending UV ahead of Kohli..Although UV made 50 but he killed the momentum. Both Dhoni and UV were unable to score off Yardy..Kohli with quicker bat speed would've scored more against Yardy, might have batted him out of attack. Dhoni should STOP PLAYING around with the batting order. He has already screwed up India's chances by his stupid and pathetic onfield captaincy. By playing around the batting order he is screwing up India's batting too... It wasn't a bad decision to send Yuvraj ahead,,he did well scored 58 in 50 balls and i don't think KOhli would have scored 100 in 50 balls..Kohli would have been even slower....Yuvraj did well...we just lost too many wickets in the last 4 overs...Pathan could have stayed till the last over...Here we missed Raina..that is may fear with Playing Kohli..we already have Gambhir in a maneuver and too some extent Dhoni too can do this and Yuvi is not his best striking form...Raina is the one guy who can hit straightaway....like he did against New Zealand in warm up....at 6 he is an asset...better than Kohli at 4 How can we blame batsmen when it was our bowling which let us down....only one effective bowler we had in Zak...others were just filling the numbers...that was tragic:((
Watson87 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Raina wasn't missed, dude you have been obsessed with Raina ever since you laid eyes on him. All we need at the moment is a bowler, not batsmen, we have enough in our bank. 338 is a massive target and we need bowlers to win games not batsmen which our nitwit fans fails to understand.
pakexpress Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 The man who is most missed is Kumble. He used to put a lot of pressure on the batsman. yeah and aus missed warne, pakistan is missing wasim and waqar, sl is missing malinga and jaya, sa missed Allan Donald
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I think asterix thinks that Kohli should've come earlier up the batting order Well that will be his ideal position but he should be able to bat at various positions if required. Against England and with te start we got, Yuvi at 4 made complete sense. And Kohli wouldn't I've scored at a better strike rate.
yoda Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Is Raina the strike bowler that we didn't know about? If so, yes we missed him. If not, stop looking at the runs. This bowling needs 400 to win a game apparently. :hehe:
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 If Kohli would have scored 58 off 50 and then got out at #4, we would have said wow what great batting and our lower order screwed up. But since its Yuvi we except 150+ strike rate?
asterix Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Well that will be his ideal position but he should be able to bat at various positions if required. Against England and with te start we got' date=' Yuvi at 4 made complete sense. And Kohli wouldn't I've scored at a better strike rate.[/quote'] I've no problem UV coming up the order. Then Dhoni should've sent Kohli next instead of him coming to bat..All I'm saying is that Kohli is not a slogger and you're wasting him down the order..
ganeshran Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Dhoni always picks out comfortable situations for himself to bat in. Guess that comes with the benefits of the job.
asterix Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 ^^ WTF is ur beef with Yuvraj Singh? His strike rate was even better than Tendulkars. Mate, I've been supporting UV's case for long now. Check UV Vs Raina topics.. Chillax..
pinkfreud Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 As much as I'm a fan of Raina' date=' I think the way forward for India is to drop Pathan and bring in Ashwin because most of our batsmen seem to be in extremely good form and there's not much need of a number 7 batsman while nearly all our bowlers seem to be struggling. So I'd like 5 specialist bowlers and then sadly there's not going to be any place for Raina in the team :(([/quote'] Good post but I disagree with you on one point: instead of sending Pathan out, I think Yuvraj should be replaced by Ashwin. Yuvraj played really well yesterday (about time he did!) but he's still to reach his peak. As for those who think Raina should play- the thing with Raina is that he's very clumsy with the short ball and almost every team knows that. In a team with both Pathan and Raina, it would really be difficult to pick a finisher, but since Pathan does a better job of thwacking the ball around, I guess he has the edge. He's to India what Pollard is to the West Indies. I'd like more specialist bowlers too. We depend too much on Yuvi and Pathan to take wickets or curb runs when they are not even full time bowlers.. that's asking for too much. Since our batsmen are in good touch we CAN afford to include one more specialist bowler at the cost of a part time spinner.

His strike rate was the best of any batsman who scored 50 yesterday. His fielding display was the best of all Indians..all good fielders like Raina, Kohli, bhajji dropped catches or misfielded. He would have also got you a wicket if not for Billy Bowden FU. On what basis should Yuvi be dropped when he is performing in all three departments? U mad?
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Pathan and Kohli could have easily taken us to 350 yesterday if they batted sensibly. Stage was set.
Ranjha Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 If 4 bowlers can't defend 338, 5 won't either..it's not like we have Bret Lee or Another Warne sitting in the reserve.
Andy Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We missed Sir Aggy and Sir Jadeja's all round skills more than anyone else.
NareshK Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 If 4 bowlers can't defend 338' date=' 5 won't either[/quote'] How can you be so sure about that ? Another bowler could have well picked up a wicket or two early on and that could have changed things around enormously. I feel India with the batting line up they have can afford to pick 5 bowlers. The pitches will be helpful for batting and the top order is in good form, so someone coming in at 7 will not have a lot to do. If Sreesanth gets picked and gets his rhythm going, then he will probably take wickets. If not, the part timers can fill up his quota. I feel Kohli can be replaced by another bowler. I rate Kohli highly but we need to get wickets against good teams on batting tracks.
sharma Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 i am glad yuvi was sent in at number4 in yesterdays game, not because i think he was the best at that spot, but because an inform yuvi is way more dangerous than an inform raina or pathan. we need yuvi to fire in the QFs and above, i dont mind losing to england or saffers as long as yuvi gets back in his rhythm. so from that point of view, to give yuvi time in the middle, i think it was a smart decision, he did not cost the team any runs, it was just our desire to reach 360 that cost us. had we aimed to go for 345-350 we would have won the match.
