Sooda Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I watched True Grit last night and Hailee Steinfeld was brilliant, really should have won supporting actress gong
Zelig Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 ^ Did you watch The Fighter :hmmm: As much as I liked Hailee's performance, I loved Amy Adams & Melissa Leo more in the Fighter.
Sooda Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I did yeah. Still thought Hailee was better, but you're right Melissa Leo was good. The major Oscar films I have not seen are 127 Hrs and The Kids Are Alright. Would have maybe expected a nomination for Matt Damon in supporting role too. I have seen a few Coen bros films and must say this is one I have enjoyed the most. Did not see the fuss around No Country... I think theyre just too intellectual for me and this straight forward western was at my level hah I heard someone on the radio say Jesse Eisenberg deserved an oscar more than Firth. He was pretty excellent too.
Zelig Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Well, opinions do differ :hatsoff: Jesse was good, no doubts...but for me, the Leading Actor/Actress category was simply a lock down. Nobody deserved it more than Firth n Nat. Btw, Ryan Gosling was terrific in Blue Valentine and he didn't even get a nomination :banghead:

coffee_rules Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Firth should have last year too, for Lonely Man. He got his break this time. A very talented actor.

I watched a film called 'Lars and the real girl' recently and it is very odd, but well acted. Some tough competition in that category though. Not sure about Javier Bardem in Biutiful, havent seen that..
