youngindia Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 they were two batsmen short. wanted to win with few specialist bats. for those shallow thinkers who wanted five bowlers, learn form this. five bowlers does not work. there was one einstein here who wanted bhajji at no 6! yesterday it was our last recognised pair that saved us from exit. sa missed the same today. and they also didn't have nehra,munaf and harbhajan to milk also helped.! kallis, de villiers and duminy had to come to the party today.they cannot be gambling recklessly in name of avoiding choking. but that's what they seemed to do today. gambling unnecessarily against a solid but nothing great attack.

Faf du Plessis at 6 always seemed a questionable selection to me, don't think he's that good a bat. After him it's just bowlers who can bat. Did not think it was the correct balance, especially given that FDP hardly bowled. They seemingly got over-excited with Tahir discovery and went extreme :giggle:

If Tahir and Peterson both bowl well, then there may be a case for keeping Botha out of the team - and now that guy has been made the captain!! IMO DeVilliers should've been made the captain for South African cricket to really move forward.

I was looking forward to a possible Ind Vs SA encounter and Indian batsmen smashing Tahir all over the park. His over the top celebration every time he got a wicket really annoyed me.

That's the thing, in limited overs cricket the big tournaments are what count, and unfortunately for all their success between competitions, they will never be acknowledged as a great ODI team (very good in Tests though). The great Aussie team established its superiority by winning three World Cups in a row...that's what people remember even though their record outside World Cups was equally good. Especially the way they raised their game in the final - thrashing Pak, India and Lanka respectively in 1999, 2003 and 2007
