A fast bowler's body language has to convey that the batsman is not welcome in the middle and the bowler is out to get the batsman. But Munaf's attitude is polar opposite to what you would expect.

Morale would already be low and his verbal assault could not help matters. Also, certain batsmen didn't deserve such treatment. Harbhajan went out to a great delivery, and Pathan lost his wicket doing exactly what he'd been sent out to do, hitting big. Finally, going off on his teammates like that undermines the captain's authority and can create a rift in the team. Sachin has to realize that while he is a great player, he's still only one player, and this is a team sport. For all his tactical errors, Dhoni at least played responsibly and if anything should have been the one to talk to the players, not Sachin.

Would have agreed with you if this had happened first time round. This game was pretty similar to what happened against Eng. The only difference was that we managed to tie the game but we lost 7/33 in that game as well and ended at least 20-30 runs short of what we should have scored. Just 2 games after that the same s**t happens! Tendulkar saw his century frittered away against Eng and I am sure he must have kept his cool then but to see the same thing happen within 2 games would have been a bit too much for him. Good that he called out the other batsmen as they haven't pulled their weight so far and frankly we can't have this sort of thing happen again as we would be out of the tournament. As a player who has given it all for the team for more than 20 years, I think he was within his rights to have a go at the other batsmen who clearly didn't learn any lessons even after the Eng game. It's not just about Pathan or Harbhajan dismissal but how the whole team collapsed from 267/1 to 296 all out!

He is an awesome batsman in terms of skill, ability, achievements etc. of course, but he has also been an inspiring presence for the players with his work ethic and being a real team man, both for juniors and seniors...he is no prima donna like some great players often are, in fact quite the opposite.

He has all the right to do that. BTW, where did Irfan Pathan disappear? By the looks of it, he could not be any worse than nehra...but atleast he can bat and field a little better.

There were way to many mistakes by our (frontline) bowlers in several phases of RSA batting which should be avoided by cricketers at that level. I can accept it at a club level but not at international level. Hopefully team Indian and the coaching staff have realized the mistakes being done and rectify them in the upcoming crucial knockout games (including the one against WI).

However, there was this moment on the field where he lost his cool when he was livid at one of the subs...probably for not bringing the right bat onto the field or something like that...Sehwag told him to calm down. It was very uncharacteristic of Tendulkar and was actually funny.

When I made that point about Dhoni in the IPL, I was referring to his choice of bowlers for the most part. Yes, Bollinger was key to Chennai winning the IPL, but then, so was Ashwin. Dhoni didn't hesitate to use Ashwin in the few matches, and if Ashwin could prove to be handy in T20 cricket, then why couldn't he be used in a 50 over game? That's what I seriously can't get my head around. I hate to say this and the last thing I'd want to do at this point is to being regionalism into the debate, but I can't help going in that direction. Dhoni always seems to be having some kind of mental block against the South players. When Sreesanth goofed up in one match, Dhoni lambasted him, but Piyush Chawla got all the support from Dhoni even when he ended up playing badly. Ashwin hasn't got a chance till date, Dinesh Karthik was left out of the squad as a supposed second wicketkeeper if Dhoni was ever to get injured.. the list is very long.

If you have an in batsman, then new batsmen coming in dont have as much pressure on them. Having one new batsman during a powerplay is manageable, having two is disastrous.
