The enlightenment centre will be a blend of tradition and modern technology.We will be collecting soils from all the grounds Sachin Tendulkar has made centuries. We're working with Tendulkar to give us his trophies and bats used throughout his famous knocks among other memorabilia. There will be atleast 2-3 movie theatres showcasing rare footage and going through the various milestones of his career. For the kids, there will be Tendulkar rides as well as interactive batting net sessions. In the 3rd hall, there will be a 'Test your Might' quiz contest. The winner will get a Sachin Tendulkar autographed Indian jersey. Other fun and enjoyable activities include a photo session where you can rewrite history and be captured alongside Sachin Tendulkar throughout his various cherished moments. This will truly be an once in a lifetime experience and a fun family outing. These are only some of teasers, there's more planned. If after 14 more years (playing cricket for 21 years), Dhoni continues to perform with the same level of consistency as Sachin does today, only then can we start comparing him with Sachin.

SIr, Indispensable in the sense that, sachin retires, gambhir becomes opener. Net result for india - Not much. Dhoni Goes - we lose out on a brilliant keeper-batter with avg 50 n SR 90. we lose our most successful captain. Sachin's a truly inspirational personplayer n will be a sad sad day of world cricket n for all us fans when he retires. Firstly, your entire argument is based on ODIs. Now even in ODIs, Sachin is the best batsman ever (roflol at saying Gambhir will replace him just like that), but ODIs are not a true measure of a team's worth. Tests are. And believe me, when Sachin retires and we have clowns like Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina in our Test middle-order, you will see how quickly Dhoni's successful captaincy record declines. I don't mean to rubbish Dhoni who is a fine cricketer. But when you make absurd arguments like saying Dhoni is more valuable than Sachin, it happens.

julianlev Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 In a bizzare way, it might actually benefit India when Sachin retires Sachin has been carrying so much of the weight for team India for so long that his teammates havn't always had to play at their best In my opinion, the South Africa game was a prime example of this, the Indian team got comfortable seeing Sachin out on the pitch doing all the work (along with Sewag and Gambhir) and when he was finally removed, I dont think anyone was willing to shoulder that burden of carrying the innings Sachin has played so well for so long that I fear his team has grown complacent around him When he leaves, his team will have no choice but to work harder for their victories, because there won't be anyone else like him around for a long time

There will be another hero in a few days time and time will move on as usual. Dare I may say there will be players that will better him and that is not to insult the great man but that’s just the way world operates. There used to me a time when people thought it was humanely impossible to run a mile under a minute. It took a man (Walter George) centuries to set a run a mile record of 4:12¾ Once IAAF started to recognize these feats, there were more men working towards breaking this record. Right now the record stands at 3:43.13 and even amateurs are able to break the 4:12 3/4th record. Look around and you will see the evolution in cars, washing machine, flights, swimming records and so forth. They have all been bettered. It may not happen immediately but the fact is that any record will be surpassed. It is not a shame if that happens mind you. Gavaskar’s records were once thought was never going to be surpassed. He was the first one to reach 10,000 runs and it took a batsman close to a century of recorded cricket to get to that milestone. Since Gavaskar, 7 players have ended up scoring more than him. Majority of those players only made their debut after Gavaskar retired. Perhaps this generation cricketers may not surpass but the future generations will surpass his achievements. This generation cricketers may look at the numbers and feel it is too intimidating but the future cricketers may not be as intimidated given there may be 20 cricketers that would have gone past 10,000 runs by then. Everything gets better over the time and the mindset of some people will not be of intimidation but of feel for doing something that is considered impossible. I may not see the day when Tendulkar’s records will be bettered but there will be a time it will be made to look not impossible, I have absolutely no doubt about that. As for India as a team, they will move on too but they will realize having a player like Tendulkar in the ranks. After this generation of cricketers move on, there won’t be too many players worrying about Tendulkar though. They will have new heroes to look forward to. Why doesn’t the up and coming youngsters try to emulate Sir Don or Gary Sobers? They were absolutely great too but it’s just the way it is. You will hear a lot of kids say they want to be Tendulkar or Lara but not many will tell you I want to be like Bradman or Gary Sobers. What they can’t relate to now, they can’t grasp no matter how great Sir Don or Gary were in their days. Like they say, all good things come to an end some day. If there’s a burning desire in some and if the depth of that desire is good enough they will surpass all past records and achievements. If Tendulkar limited his challenges and did not recognize that he had to strive constantly to achieve that never ending improvement he will not have been where he is currently at.

I thought it so hard 8 years back, I thought Pakistan's bowling will just finish, I thought I will not watch cricket anymore... Though we might not produce any Akram again but it was not an end of cricketing world in Pakistan, life moved on and no one stopped watching cricket, also we kept on doing reasonably well in bowling...
