Zelig Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 if England go on and win the 2011 WC? :hmmm:
Year| Team| Loss % 1975|WI|0 1979|WI|0 1983|India|33.33 1987|Australia|16.67 1992|Pakistan|37.5 1996|SL|0 1999|Australia|25 2003|Australia|0 2007|Australia|0
Loss% - Group/League matches were only considered :orderorder: India's losses came against the WI n Australia (two relatively tough teams). The % might look on the higher side, but they'd actually lost 2 outta 6 games :orderorder: PS: This is just another jinx thread :beee:
Zelig Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Okay, MOST likely QF lineup - Australia v WI SL v England NZ v India Pakistan v SA There is no way the Poms are getting past Murrali, Mendis n Herath :om:
sandeep Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 England came very close to losing ALL its group games. I'm pissed off, I had a side bet going with a friend at work that pommies won't make QF. This is a very dangerous QF opponent for whoever they play.
Dinx - the Jinx Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 if india loses to Windies in the last game, ven w ehad lot 2 out of 6 games. Will u say the same thing if we go on to win the cup?
Ultimate_Game Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 If Eng goes on to win the world cup, it would be absolutely fair in my book. After all they would have beaten the other teams in the games that matter.

coffee_rules Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Having beaten WI and SA, tied with India, Eng can still go out of the first round, if BD wins against SA. How fair is that?

England beat Safrica and tied with India to make up for the losses to Ire and Bang
fineleg Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Is it fair..... that (if) India qualify for QF if they lose to WI. India has so far beaten only Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands :giggle: And that too India made it look tougher than necessary against Ban(letting them score over 280), Ire and Neth
vpg0002 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 None of the teams have been impressive that one can say they really deserve to win the cup. I think having the top 10 teams play the WC with each team playing 9 games (against all the other teams once) and only the top 4 making it to SF's would be a good format and will make every team work hard towards their chances of winning the WC.

England has not won a match convincingly yet. They are so inconsistent n I for one like to see the Best Team, one that puts consistent performances, to win the WC...rather than a team that had three good days on the trot. :idunno: Is it fair..... that (if) India qualify for QF if they lose to WI. fineleg Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 The bottomline is we DIDN'T lose Have we beaten a top test playing nation this WC so far? And we gotta beat WI, else all we have to show is win against Banglistan :asleep: (as far as league matches)
Bradman99 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 It's not about how you perform in the group, but it's the finals that matter. I'd be pissed if they win though, would hate that.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 ENGLAND are the team i am ROOTING for if india get knocked out. they are a likeable group of cricketers, guys that enjoy the game and dont take it too seriously. look at guys like graeme swann, the guy jokes around even after his team loses and makes it out to be nothing. sometimes they lose, sometimes they win but they play with some real passion. and i cant help but like a team that fights til the end. they are like a less talented version of india. go england, win the world cup. i wouldnt be surprised if u did. you have already done more than enuff by singlehandedly saving this tournament from mind numbing boredom.
Zelig Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 For every "JOKER" in their team, there is a skunt (read as Prior, Jimmy Anderson, Trott, etc).

vamos_rafa Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 England are a battle hardened side. They have pulled off some amazingly close matches. In any tournament the battle hardened sides are the ones that do well as compared to someone who have had easy wins. Best case in point is the '99 WC, when the aussies had a real hard time and almost made a hash of the WC as opposed to SAffers. But when the real moments arrived the Aussies, because of the tough cricket that they played through out did not chicken out. This WC is not like the '03 and'07 one's where all teams apart from Austraila were fighting for a place in the finals
achilles Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 It would be great for England if the creators of the game finally win the world cup, the pinnacle of this sport. PS- Why do you spam so much? Do you plan to outdo RoRo & DhonZone soon?
