vaibhav_delhi Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 fast bowling is a strenuous job. Selectors wouldn't like to give them the extra burden of captaincy...
Sachin=GOD Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Not as rare as decent posts from you... :hysterical:
Switchblade Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Coz they get injured most of the times due to excessive matches which they play
vamos_rafa Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I think they are not as rare as Wicket Keepers as captains. Infact there have been many like Wasim, Kapil,Imran,Walsh,Younis, Willis,Heath Streak, just to name a few.

Can think of only MSD, Gilly, Taibu, Flower, Moin Khan, Latif.

vamos_rafa Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Fast bowlers aren't normally too clever :winky: You have compared Fast bowlers with blondes :--D
ravishingravi Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Yeah Akram was a great fast bowling captain. But he didn't get a very long run. Imran ofcourse. Why they are so rare ? Certain myths about captaincy
therocky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 You have compared Fast bowlers with blondes :--D Ahmed Shehzad ? :--D
Anishabrahim Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 OK. So, if you had to pick a Indian fast bowler for captain, who would you choose? :D Stumped, eh? That's how the selectors must think :p
coffee_rules Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Rare because this would happen Iframe: Open in new window
Raghav_12 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 There have been some fast bowling captains in recent times, but of course not many. Akram, Younis, Imran, Kapil, Pollock, Streak etc.. Some of the reason for not many fast bowlers being captain which I think are 1. A lot of injury means fast bowlers miss a large numbner of games and this uncertainilty about their availability leads to their non-consideration for captaincy. 2. Most of the fast bowlers happen to be terrible fielders and so they typically field at fine leg or third man. And then they don't get much chance to get involved in on-field discussions on team strategy. Eventually don't get developed as good tacticians. 3. By very demand of the job, fast bowlers have to be hot-blooded and short on temper (Sree santh ??) , some qualities which really don't make good case for being captain.
Zelig Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 They have six different balls to worry about to go along with the field placings, bowler changes, etc :dontknow: Btw, bowler-cappos tend to under bowl themselves :agree:
