People like Sachin, Amla, etc. wouldn't have been expected to walk out in the past either when they were declared not out by umpires, but they did so anyway. It's a big deal because this isn't the first time Ponting has done this.. but in today's case, the umpire was more to blame than Punter himself.. Pak ended up using a review in the process.

And since it can not be balanced, a batsman walking is quite unnecessary IMO. Besides, bad decisions are part of the game. The batsman has no choice when the bad decisions go against him. He simply has to walk whether he likes it or not. And hence a batsman should have the right to take advantage of the share of bad decisions going in his favor. The fielders can always challenge.

Asad Rauf was unmoved, Sehwag slashes a short of a length ball outside off and there's a sound as the ball leaves the bat, Haddin and Johnson reckong they have him but Sehwag doesn't move, that could be an error from the umpire's part, the edge looked pretty clear to me. I am told that after Sehwag got away with that thick edge, Ponting walked up to him and suggested that he shoud have walked. Look at the replays and you can see the tantrums of Ponting against Sehwag for not walking.

There is a history of Sachin being given out wrongly. i don't remember Sachin complaining about false umpiring and etc. It's quite evident that the hatters have to bring in Sachin to clarify the black marks on Punter

Do you suffer from amnesia that you dont remember Ponting asking everyone to take the fielder's word when a catch is disputed? BTW, I dont support batsmen walking and dont have much issues with Ponting standinng his ground this time. Umpires/tech are there for a reason
