gaurav92 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Yes they did surprise one and all by topping the group. But they are a pretty mercurial side. They will lose to an opposition who are no better and will defeat a much better opposition at their den. So there is an air of unpredictability when they play, because anything is possible. They can fold up for 184 against an ordinary Canada side, and score a manmoth 277 against a varietal Sri Lankan attack and beat them. Having said that, the opening combination + spinning option is a concern for them. They have got away with Hafeez, Rehman and Razzaq bowling their 25-30 overs which may not be as effective against a better spposition. Razzaq can bowl a few overs with the new ball along with Akhtar. And later one may ask Hafeez to bowl 4-5 overs to fill in the quota of 10 overs from part timers. Gul + Akhtar + Afridi + Rehman/Ajmal = 40 overs. Their batting looks a worry. They need to send Kamran at the opening position along with either Hafeez/Shehzad - I'd prefer Hafeez because he can add balance in the side with his bowling ability. A Playing XI comprising of : Kamran Akmal Mohd. Hafeez Asad Shafiq Yunus Khan Misbah Ul Haq Umar Akmal Shahid Afridi Abdul Razzaq Shoaib Akhtar Umar Gul Saeed Ajmal This definitely looks a dangerous side and can beat any opposition on a given day.

Once they were down.. they were down till the end. Gutless performance by Australia against Pakistan, Pakistan against NZ. SL was the one who looked okay. But their middle order is a joke.

But their middle order is a joke.[/quote'] Group B had close games but overall apart from SA no one was convincing.Eng lost to Ireland and BD.Ind beat only one major nation in Windies.Windies lost against all major nations. I feel there is more to come from India and Aus making it a great battle.
