Indian batsmen while chasing & batting first in the last 4 years

You can just 'Gary Pratt' him like what India have been doing in the WC so far.
I am not sure he can field for whole 50 overs unless someone is completely injured. What if India fields first. There is no excuse for you to bring him in.

Raina on the field brings lot of energy to the whole side. Yusuf certainly earned his chances. Too harsh to judge him with few chances. But from all practical purposes we have to go for the experience.
Raina missed the run out of pietersen against SA remember.

@VVVS I know he earned his chances but to me apart frm the Ireland game he has looked uncertain against pace bowling dont hate him but yesterday he should have stayed till the end with Raina as u have said he brings more energy to the team and he also picks up important wickets

That won't make him a bad fielder. That is a blip in Raina's case. That is the regular for most of our players. Raina and KOhli are our best fielders. He can pull off magic on the field.

One of the reason Raina is coming back into equation is Yusuf's indifferent game plan against pacers. But that alone is not the reason. Yusuf is more a risk taker than Raina. So chances of him failing is more. After he gets out we lose wickets like a pack of cards. That is like having 5 tailenders and 6 batsmen.

I would go for the experience. Raina has been there done that. Even in championship trophy but for the blind umpire Raina would have seen us through. He absolutely hammered Umar Gul.
Raina just has to be selected over Yusuf as he has more experience and has been consistently performing for quite some timea nd I also think that he's a far better finisher than Yusuf. Yusf tends to play one blinding innings and then his bat goes silent for a long time. Raina is a better fielder and in bowling also' date=' while Yusuf may go for a few less runs, Raina takes important wickets.[/quote'] I think because of a few explosive innings Pathan has developed an aura around himself that is difficult for Raina to emulate. But yes Raina should be given a chance in the quarters, lets see how he does

The KO situation of a big trounament brings with it different kind of pressure.hence the records posted here has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Already there is a difference in this tournament.Players coming with up with some brain dead cricket and loose dismissals in the last 10 overs something they may not have done in a bilateral series. The fact is that many players have to show they can come up with their best in a WC KO and only seniors has seen that before. and even they didn't do well vs SL in 2007 for example in the last 2 World t20 "must qualify" matches, chasing proved beyond the team despite the not so great attacks of wi and england. i will just say - DO not chase at all unless forced to.

ah ha' date=' so we are still discussing who should be playing. Feels like the WC is still to start :P[/quote'] I think dynamics changed after we witnessed our gutless tailenders batting. It is like we are having 4 walking wickets down the order. Essentially all oppositions have to do is take 6 wickets.

Only in Ind would fans worry abt how good the tail is when they have some of the best batsmen batting in the top 4-5 :P

You mean to say SA would have won the match against us without Robin peterson? You need some contribution from them in a tight situation. They confidently go in with 5 full time bowlers and an all rounder because they all contribute. India failed to bat out 50 overs 3 times in a row.

So tail is suppose to bail us out, great!

So tail is suppose to bail us out' date=' great![/quote'] They don't have to bail us out. THey just have to give company to whoever bats there not swinging the bat brainlessly. With that kind of tail you are almost couple of wickets away from a dramatic collapse.
