The Outsider Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 If and when England hosts another world cup, will they award the final to any stadium other than Lords? Don't bring in Eden Gardens..brought shame to the nation in '96 and failed to host an important match in this WC! Lords' has the largest capacity of all grounds in England, forget about being one of the smallest. If you are worried about historical importance hold it in Brabourne. Your argument does not even start.

The Outsider Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Whats next in Line' date=' Kolakata - which already held one, plus a final is more suitable for a metro IMO[/quote'] Delhi, Bangalore, Madras all have much larger capacities and have been recently renovated as well.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Its destiny - Goddy will lead India to victory in front of his home crowd on April 2nd - the ICC Chief just confirmed it :winky:
Rajiv Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Delhi' date=' Bangalore, Madras all have much larger capacities and have been recently renovated as well.[/quote'] ..true, but wouldn't carry the same oomph factor :winky:
punjabi_khota Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Lol Rajiv doesn't even consider Kolkatta a metro :hahaha: bongs
Rajiv Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Lol Rajiv doesn't even consider Kolkatta a metro :hahaha: bongs Read my post above, I said Kolkata already held a final ( 1987 )
ganeshran Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 No sensitive matches in Eden Garden please. The 96 loss is forgotten but what the fans did that day still hurts. Still remember Kambli in tears :((
Stuge Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 oh man Can't stop laughing .. destiny is written already I guess .
lonestarranger Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 If India *really* does make it to the final now, it's gonna look bad on the ICC's part.. Questions would unnecessarily arise again?
therocky Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 This loser has opened his mouth too soon, If India doesn't make it to the final then this statement will just hurt Sachin even more.
Rajma Chawal Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Fact is there is very little logical justification to hold the final of the World Cup in one of the smallest stadiums in India. He can't admit that Bombay was awarded the final because of Pawar's politics, so will have to come up with some flimsy excuse or the other. This just happens to be one of them. You can make out this is the case from the following statement : :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:
Prakat Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Frankly, I think Haroon is just playing to the galleries and telling the media and the people of India what they want to hear. Also there's a very high liklihood that ICC doesn't get to make these decisions without having the BCCI's a-ok. The BCCI is the favorite Bahu of the lecherous old ICC.

What's stopping them from hosting in some 500 people stadium then? i was going to type in something similar :hatsoff:
vpg0002 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Media and so many folks talk about match fixing / spot fixing. And here comes the head honcho saying things that would make it controversial than anything else. Hope these are not mind games to create advantage for his home country. ;-)
