Unfortunately Indian crowd just does not appreciate good opposition performances in general.. Whenever an opp player does well, there is stunned silence.. Javed Miandad had a great rivalry with India but everyone knows that he was a great cricketer. unfortunately he got booed in his last ever international innings. that was a great injustice. that just shows indian crowd does not appreciate anything apart from an indian victory. on the other hand ricky ponting was applauded in ashes 2009 when he played the last test match i also remember than in 2005 bangalore test pakistan won to draw the series. but there was no applause at all. rather ganguly was booed.

Aussie crowd boo'ed at Yuvi Bhajji and even Gautam Gambhir when we played in Aus So lets just get on with it. Ah'bad crowd did clap when Punter got his ton, there was a cheer around the ground in appreciation.

Bah. Pretty poor of the crowd but you get those type of people everywhere. Go watch a test match in Australia -- Sit on the seats near the boundary and watch the hapless fielders get abused into oblivion with every profanity you can think off, racial, sexual etc. Even the security guards cop it sweet --- chanting "You are a "W.A.N.K.E.R" over and over again with the guards pretty much helpless to do anything. I mean, if its one or two people, you can probably warn them. What the hell do you if its like whole section/sub section of the ground? These are the drunk, rowdy and completely obnoxious people who think its good fun to ruin the fun of others at the ground.

+++++. A few boos are completely innocuous in comparison.........much, much better than abusive language and racial taunts......... I'd really like to know what exactly Shaun Tait said to Tillakaratne Dilshan the other day and Sachin Tendulkar yesterday ! Just calling it 'sledging' does not excuse it ! Remember, the crowd can see first-hand all that's going on in the field and the big screen on the ground helps ! Sometimes, its just more than words. One has only to see the expressions, gestures and the look in the eyes of the Aussies to know EXACTLY what they are thinking ! The crowds are NOT stupid you know ! In fact, I think Indian crowds are generally much better-behaved and appreciative of good cricket than most other crowds ! For instance, there is a lot of support and admiration for the England and South African teams, in India . Aussies no doubt play good cricket, but you seriously can't expect Indian crowds to tolerate the rank bad behavior and ill-manners on or off the field. The crowd is only human after all ! You can admire Australian cricket, but you can't possibly like them ! Just my 2 cents !

Ponting got booed in England too. Not every opposition player gets booed in India. Its just Ponting.:--D
stop making things up... ponting got a round of applause in his last tests innings in england.

How typical of people to want to change Ponting's diaper  He deserved to booed for his pathetic attempt to cheat and claim a catch off Sachin, his magnificent ton notwithstanding- for which he did get an applause, btw. Also add to the fact that the Aussies sledged (yet again- yawn) yesterday and displayed glimpses of being sore losers when the match started turning our way. End of.

+++ Thank you for outlining that. For some reason people always overlook the disgusting behaviour of Oz crowds.

Yes but he also got bood in england when he walked out to bat many times and got bood when he attended post match presentations in England as well. He got bood so much in his last tour of england but you want to turn a blind eye. He also got bood when attended post match presentation here, which you want to shout from the roof tops. But want to turn a blind eye to him being applauded by the ahmedabad crowd on his ton, in fact he was appluaded so much that he raised his bat to everyone in the crowd cos he was getting such a good reception. Ponting is hated and so gets bood. Great player but gutter sportsman. Deserves to be bood!

WOW cant believe there is so much sympathy for the Aussie team on here. As great as they may be or were, they are the most racist, despicable and disgusting team in terms of 'the spirit of cricket' and a lot of this would stem from your leader. Im glad they got abused, and I'm glad we beat them and loved watching the racist tossers trudge off the field miserably.

Look, there are occasions or time to give it back. If they are giving us on field then I've no issues that our players give them back. But to use a post match ceremony to vent your frustrations is not good and shows the Indian public in bad light..

Lara never got bood in India or England. Wonder why Yob Ponting gets bood everywere?

Fans are not dumb these days, and if your a c**t they will let you know, no matter how great a player you are. If it was Strauss or Vettori for example in the same position they would not get the boos, because they are decent men. Ponting has crossed the line of decency against India for too many years.

Indians will never learn the finer nuances of human beahviour. This is not the first and will most certainly not be the last occassion.
Agree. These mob can learn a thing or two from Chennai crowd of '99. If they want to that is. Would help if they weren't as pig headed.
