Midfielder
Batting first - India wins. Bowling first - India wins. Rest is immaterial. +1 Link to comment
maaki
When we have 9 spinners and 2 pace bowlers we have to start with spin or risk making the game very predictable.. which is why we lost the SA and tied the Eng game.. Ashwins value is opening the bowling otherwise we have one too many off spin bowlers in the team , bowling the same **** over and over again.. Link to comment
maaki
I think we should drop Pathan and Raina for Chawla.. play with 3 specialist spinners instead of 2 out of form all rounders who dont contribute with the bat or the ball.. Chawla had a very good Eng game except he was kept to bowl the tail overs which is very risky for a leg spinner.. Link to comment
Desi Cartman
the 2nd innings start at 0010 hrs for me :((. I cant take a day off so I am fecked. Link to comment
zen
Depends upon which seamers we play. If we have a couple of seamers who can swing the ball then there is no point in opening with a spinner. On the other hand, if we have a seamer who doesn't swing the ball much then opening with Ashwin could be an option .... For Ind, bowling with the new ball is probably not as big an issue as picking up wkts in the middle overs. Middle overs is when I would want to get a few overs out of a wkt taking spinner like Ashwin Ideally, in first 8 overs I would use the seamers to swing the ball and get a couple of early wkt. ER is not a huge concern at this point. After 8 overs, if wkts don't come and the OZ RR is high, I would bring in Ashwin to bowl to see if he can give the break. So he gets to bowl 4 overs in PP. If he is bowling well, he can continue for 3-4 more overs. Link to comment

Sachin Viru Gauti UV Kohli Dhoni Chawla Ashwin Bhajji Zak Munna Good team but if the batting collapses then we will be in trouble. But bowling wise looks good to sort out the Aussies. Aussies are in a huge dilemma. They don't have good spinners up their ranks. Might play Smith and Krejza. Cameron White might bowl but he hasn't bowled in recent matches. I don't think Dhoni will go with 6 batsmen... Link to comment
Anakin
I say we should open the batting with SRT and Yusuf, YP might just shock the Ozs into submission. Link to comment
zen
if most of the top 6 collapse, we are trouble anyways and probably would require no. 7 to get a 70-80 odd, which is not a guarantee considering how the guys have been collapsing. Because of the collapses, it's more like we need depth in bowling to have a chance. I would probably have zak, sree, munaf, ashwin, bhajji and yuvi as my 6 bowlers. Gives me a nice balance of 3 seamers + 3 spinners. In this way, not everyone is required to bowl 10 overs and then I have the option to pick the best ones bowl the 50 overs Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
9am game start...I have lectures then an exam during the day :(( Will try and follow as much as I can.. Is it a day game, not a Day/Nighter? I thought all the knockouts including from Q/F to Final were day-nighters. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
India need to come up with a plan for short of length bowling. Even against WI we never looked comfortable even though WI only had one specialist fast bowler - Russell and Sammy are medium paced all-rounders. Tendulkar went early, Gambhir looked uncomfortable and Yuvraj was dropped twice before he had even scored 15! Now imagine facing off against the likes off Lee, Johnson and Tait who all bowl 145+ kph and the fielding which won't give us any chances. I hope they have a plan else another collapse is on the cards. Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
A rank turner and hope we get to bat first. Victory gauranteed. Only bats I am worrried about is Watson who loves our bowling and M hussey to an extent If it's a turner I would back India to win even while chasing. Aussies don't have decent spinners in their squad Link to comment
Clarke
If you watch cricket, you'd be asking whether Australia can handle Indian spinners on slow wickets. The pride in the desi went for a walk ? Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
In any case we need to chase..We've been struggling to defend scores against good teams.. Not with Ashwin in the team... now we will be able to defend the kind of scores we were not able to against Eng and SA. Link to comment
Ultimate_Game
I say we should open the batting with SRT and Yusuf' date=' YP might just shock the Ozs into submission.[/quote'] Tendulkar and Sehwag are good enough to open - no need to change the only spot that is working for us. Plus Pathan is more comfortable against spinners and medium paced trundlers, not against express pace of Lee or Tait. Link to comment
