King Tendulkar Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Batting line up locked in. 4 bowlers locked in ZK, Bhaji, Ashwin, Yuvraj. Only selection dilema is 5th bowler i.e Munaf place. Who should it be? Gamble on Sree having a good day on Mohali track suited more to pace/swing? Back Munaf to come back on more suited track which may suit his back of length/line of length bowling? Go for nehra? Or chawla go for 3 spinners?
bihutoli Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I don't see yesterday's team being changed realistically. Dhoni will go with the same playing eleven imo. Still I would rather Sree plays. He's been unlucky to be shelved due to essentially 2 bad overs when Bangladesh were chasing 350+. He was a bit unlucky as well as Tamim was edging some.
urbestfriend Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Sree in place of Munna, Sree is usually charged up for big game but problem with Sree is he can try too hard so he should be told to keep it very simple to bowl close to the stumps and finish him off before 40th over.
pinkfreud Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I think we should stick to our playing XI. We don't have someone like Tsotsobe and Parnell warming our benches, and when Munaf isn't stoned he can still stick to... yeah yeah, a good line and length. Everybody hailed Nehra and wanted him to play against SA, and look what happened. Sreesanth would have been my choice tbh, but he just doesn't have enough match practice to play in the semis.. so we don't really have a choice. If Dhoni displays the same guile and grit with our bowlers like he did yesterday, then it's sayonara Pakistan. We can still totally chaddi utaaro Afridi and their spinners.
DomainK Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 When Munna came to bowl, my friend asked if he will be effective. I said "no one messes with a Patel in Ahmedabad." Next ball was four. :headshake: I would back Munaf. Sree is too big a gamble. If he goes wrong, he can undo all goods other bowlers do. The Australian batting lineup was far superior to Pakistan's and I doubt Munna will be that bad. If not Munna, then Nehra.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I don't see yesterday's team being changed realistically. Dhoni will go with the same playing eleven imo. Still I would rather Sree plays. He's been unlucky to be shelved due to essentially 2 bad overs when Bangladesh were chasing 350+. He was a bit unlucky as well as Tamim was edging some. This. As for bringing Sree - I think it is too big a risk to take at this stage of the tournament. He's not had any match practice for some days and he's shown in the past that his temperament is still questionable. If he bowls well, its very good, but if he bowls badly and loses his cool (as it happens very often) then he can undo all the good work done by all other bowlers in just a few overs.
Sooda Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Stick with the winning lineup I say. No, Munaf isnt great, but Nehra is not bowling too well and frankly Sree should not ever play an ODI for us again. He can be a test bowler of high class but far too expensive in ODIs. As pinkfreud says Munaf on a good day is handy ('when he is not stoned' loll), we have to hope that he has one of those. He is not a particularly good new ball bowler, lacks the nous but the best weve got... The other two are far too inconsistent. Just not sure we will chaddi utaaro their spinners so easily. I hope so, thatll be a tough battle, therell be no easy pickings for the Indian batsmen, unless Riaz plays.
DomainK Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 We play Sree. He gets thrashed, then we want Nehra. Then he gets thrashed and we want Munna. Munna gets thrashed and we want sree back. :D It was not too long ago that everyone was calling for Nehra's head after he bowled that dreadful last over. Now so many want him back because Munna got thrashed. Fact remains that all of them are average bowlers.
Baad Indian Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I think we need to take a small risk and bring in Sree for the most important match , this guy has been doing well especially in matches against Pakistan , considering that even Munaf isnt in a good form either I dont think replacing him with Sree would be such a big gamble . Even if Sree goes for some runs in his initial overs , we can use Tendulkar , Sehwag , Raina to bowl his remaining overs . Munaf would also leak atleast 10-15 runs more with his pathetic fielding so I really hope Sree comes back for the big game and performs.
Shane Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Munaf Patel. He wasnt as bad as it looked in the QF.
Laaloo Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Munaf Patel. He wasnt as bad as it looked in the QF. Same as Sreesanth against Bangla :P No seriously, I don't care who plays as long as this heartless Munaf. The guy has a freaking smirk on his face every time he gets hit for a boundary or every time he misfields. He gives some excuse or the other. The guy has no emotions. He can't bat, he can't field, nor is he that good a bowler.
King Tendulkar Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 I am sticking with Munaf. Feel Mohali pitch will suit him and he will have a good game.
yoda Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Sree would be a great option on this pitch if only he ever learnt to bowl with some kind of control.
VRV Singh Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Pretty sure it will be Munaf. Need better from him though, not sure we can rely on Sachin and Kohli making up his quota for just 5 runs an over again....
