ghost Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Hi all My friend and I have decided NOT to announce the winner of the Ind-Pak semi-final clash (at least for tonight !), for the following reasons :- 1. My friend is rather dismayed at the threats poor Bingo has received on this Forum.... he doesn't want 'badduan' (curses) of disappointed Indian or Pakistani fans 2. Frankly, Bingo seems rather inconsistent in predicting the results of only THIS match ; for instance, on Friday and Saturday he was predicting an Indian victory. But, on Sunday and Monday, he seems to be favoring Pakistan:omg: 3. I personally feel that this dichotomy has a lot to do with the "Match-fixing' allegations being made against both the Indian and Pakistani Teams. CNBC reported that Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, former Income-Tax Commissioner, has alleged in an Interview that crores of rupees have been staked on an Indian victory ; so naturally, it is in the bookies interest that India loses ! He alleges that an Indian defeat has already been arranged ! On the other hand, the Pakistani Interior Minister has been warning 'known' Pakistani match-fixers not to try anything as they are being closely watched ! All this may be a lot of nonsense, but I'm sure its creating a lot of unnecessary pressure on both Teams ! 4. Also, the Shoaib Akhtar factor, whether he will play or not, may or may not be significant . Anyway, we've decided to conduct more trials and IF we are certain that Bingo is more or less indicating a particular Team to win, I will post the results on Tuesday night, as we feel Bingo will be more accurate closer to the start of the match ! Also, we feel that Bingo has already done a fine job and has nothing left to prove ! Sorry for the inconvenience !

WC2011INDIA Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Well I guess Bingo is going to stick to its Sunday and Monday predictions. There is something fishy about this India vs. Pak semi final. The Indian media is saying that the game will likely be fixed and bookies are doing everything in their power to make sure India doesn't win. On the other hand, Pakistan interior minister is keeping a tab on Paki players for any potential match fixing. I get this feeling that whichever team loses will not be on their performance, but because they had decided to lose on purpose i.e. the team management or player(s) struck a deal with bookies. I hope India proves them all wrong by winning.

Don't make him watch too much TV :P If he looks at the strength of the Ind side, then it should be easy for him to pick India Trivia: Ind SF record in sub-con 1987 - lost to Eng, who lost the final to Aus 1996 - lost to SL, who beat Aus in the final in both these games, Ind batted 2nd and made a mess of chasing :(( Who knows God sent Pak to play Ind in the semis so that Pak can help Ind overcome its semis troubles in sub-con and help Ind get into the final :yay:
