Before Australia comes back....

....will the BCCI manage to find atleast 2 exceptional bowling talents? so we have sustained the no 1 ranking with just good bowlers, despite the annoying regression of pacemen and without the crucial leg spinner. i am right now not too worried about SA. they tend to play average players here and there and waste their time with choking and other issues.they also have to find atleast one more batsman and pace bowler. but australia is still to be feared with its system. they already have prospects lined up with pace bowling looking most promising. whether the likes of hazelwood succeed or not is another question. but its safer to proceed onthe assumption they will succeed in the next 5-7 years and maybe even earlier. if we continue with the same business on relying on our batting lineup and cannot hurt batsman with great bowlers, its a matter of time before a fall. sachi and dravid are not going to stay for too long now Its the utmost responsibility of the BCCI to shift several gears up and come up with a more lethal bwoling and fielding unit. or there will be price to pay in a few years . the time to act is now.

More than the bowler.. India has to form an unit that hunt in packs. Complementing each other on any surfaces. I was watching Murali other day. They were playing him with ridiculous ease. Not sure if it is tired fingers or people have started picking him . Similarly Bhajji is not a threat anymore to many team. India has lot of decent spinners. But none looks stand out and destined to go long way. Leggies are anydays game breakers. Unfortunately our leggies look average.

Under swinging conditions we do have a very potent attack. Coz of RP's inability to bowl well on flat tracks we under-estimate his abilities outside India. RP, Irfan, Praveen all go through the same issue albeit Praveen is more intelligent. It is very hard to create swinging conditions in India. They better start learning to adapt to Indian surfaces. India attack will look better.

Another issue is the batting in overseas tests once the big 3 retire. It won't be a huge issue in India but it might be a problem overseas. The big tours to England and Australia are this year and SA just finished. So there is time before the next tours to these 3 big countries. Kohli is ready for test cricket but how do you get him in? He should play at 6 in the next test series but Puajara can't be dropped. There are talks of Yuvraj making a comeback again. Hope that it doesn't happen. Kohli should get a chance before Yuvraj. The pther option is to continue with Pujara at 6 (unless he fails badly) and then get Kohli to replace Dravid at 3 or move VVS to 3 and Kohli at 5.

True assessment ...we just go overboard on Indian batting but in Test ...truly these Rainas, yuraj, pathan cannot last especially in overseas pitches. We can already see a mini crisis there with Dravid in last leg..VVS & SRT in 2 yrs.

True. especially after Sachin, Laxman, Dravid and Sehwag retire - it will take some time for our batting to become as potent as it is now. Once these go, out batters wont be able to cover for the weaknesses that are there in our bowling. 2015 WC is in Australia, we will need at least one high quality pacer to support ZAK (assuming he gets better or stays the same), another couple of decent pacers (at least Srinath kind) and at least one more high quality spinner (hopefully Ashwin fills that space).
