It could have put more pressure on Kohli to perform :dontknow: I've never seen Sachin do this n from memory, Gibbs is the one who does it most of the times, esp. when he gets out early.

Two ways of looking at it Had Tenduklar said "You gotta stay there and finish it" That would have been a lot of pressure Tendulkar actually gave him more confidence "You(We) can do this" Imagine when you do something, and people encourage or cheer for you, you feel like doing that stuff with more dedication. Thats what happend in this case. When someone who has scored so many runs in cricket is telling the kid "you can do this" he would definately be full of confidence rite away.

How can words of encouragement, optimism backfire??? Besides, Sachin has been aware of the fact that youngsters in the team look upto him. He would have chosen different gesture, or not at all with someone like Dravid. This guy is always aware of making the right moves at the right times. e.g. calling his biggest fan to lift the trophy.
