Ireland shut out of World Cup 2015

Warren Deutrom, the Cricket Ireland chief executive, has slammed the ICC's decision to trim the next World Cup to just the ten Full Members nations, describing it as "nothing short of outrageous". The 2015 event in Australia and New Zealand will only include the ten Test-playing nations after the ICC decided against a qualification system for the tournament, which means no chance for the likes of Ireland or Netherlands to earn a place. In 2019 also there will be only 10 teams but at least Ireland can qualify for that. Poor guys, deserved a spot in 2015. ICC is hell bent on making cricket stay as a small sport played and followed in a small number of countries :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Growth of cricket in other countries is a must if the game needs to sustain the popularity it currently enjoys. Because let's face it, in some countries cricket is seeing massive decline like West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Well.....as someone posted on cricinfo....the ICC meeting taking place...with CA, ECB & BCCI ordering the ICC & rest of the test teams why they cant accomodate Ireland for 2015: CA - If Ireland start playing & gets Test status then Ire-Eng will be so much bigger then Aus-Eng Ashes ever be. ECB - If Ireland start playing & get Test status...then how will Eng get good quality players to play for Eng. BCCI - If Ireland start playing & get Test status...then we will not be able to buy their Test vote....& we will not get the majority in everything that we said. So the evil trio basically made the rule saying no Ireland for 2015..killing cricket there...& the rest of the Test countries & ICC signed (NZ, WI, BD, Zim were happy knowing that their pathatic teams can play for next WC without doing anything else & earm millions eitherway).

^ very well said ... lol there is one thing that bothers me about this. Lets say (and that is a big if) by 2015 ireland climbs up to say 8th or 7th position in the icc ranking on top of ZIM or BD. Are they still not going to let IRE play? I find this ridicilous .... They are already beyond ZIM in ranking so WTF did they do wrong? If we were talking bout kenya here ok well I had to admit that those games were a waste of time but comm'n ...

Pathetic really. 12 teams should be the least. Taking world out of world cup, barely makes any sense. Especially when teams like Ireland, Netherland, Zimb put on decent performances.

Yes Ireland should be in there hopefully there will be a protest and the tournament will change a bit otherwise shame on u ICC and it would take the gloss of a win in the 2015. Ireland provided one of the matches of the tournament against England scoring 300++ after being 100-5. Also the fastest world cup 100 has been scored by an Irishman. Look what they did in 07 knocking out our good friends Pakistan. ICC - WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT TO KEEP THEM IN!!!!!!!

10 teams means they can play league format of 1992 to choose semi finalists.This means TV broadcasters will get 10 league matches from each big teams like India(mainly) Pakistan England and Aussies . ICC always only worried about Money so its a surprise

Its really a shameful act by the ICC. I feel bad for Ireland. A Team that has beaten South Africa and England in their 2 world cup campaigns needs to be there in the world cup. They were competitive in almost all of their matches. Ireland deserves to be there. Shame on you ICC.
