I think u are confusing ODIs with tests. I agree their ODI dominance started after winning 99 world cup . But they announced their test dominance by winning the test series in west Indies in 1995. Remember West Indies were a very strong test in 90's with Ambrose Walsh Lara & co. Probably slightly better than Pakistan . Since then they were the best till 2008 I dont think Lee's emergence had done much to Aussie dominance much in tests . IIRC Lee wasnt even in their starting XI for some years when Kasprovic and Gillespe were bowling great

No look at how many tests Kasper played. Brett Lee debuted in 99 and he played all 3 matches against India in that series. He was always preferred over others like Kasper. Oz lost badly in India in 1996 and 1998. Since 1999, series against Pak and India they won 6-0, they had their 16 test winning streak which we broke in 2001 and that 2001 series was fought equally where India came out winners because of an incredible partnership of Laxman and Dravid..otherwise Ozzies had rolled us in first test in Mumabi easilya and that was their best team

Just to put into perspective in 1996 it was a one off test without Warne and in 1998 they were without Gillespie and Mcgrath. Their domination had started in 1995 because as far as I remember they hadn't lost one test series since then accept ones against India in India which even 2001 team lost

IIRC Kasper was prefered over Lee when they won the test series in India in 2004. During that period both Kasper and Gillespe were prefered over Lee. Only their demise in 2005 gave Lee the chance to break into the national test team. They were beating everyone else everywhere since 1995 apart from India in India and srilanka in 1999.They just improved even better since 1999 but their domination started in 1995 when Aussies beat west indies in westindies who were the best team till then. Pakistan were never in the top 2 teams in 90's let alone being close to domination.West Indies were a quality test team probably only behind Aussies till late 90's . They were the only team to challenge Australia in Australia when everyone else were white washed in 90's
